I just bought a U7 series on a pre-Black Friday deal, replaced my old TCL. So far I really like it. Picture is sharp for both movies and video games. I’m not a huge tech guy, but I read and watched a lot of reviews and it was a top pick for my budget, I’d agree so far.

Looks like the U8 has slightly better VQ ratings - the biggest improvements are in contrast and HDR brightness. I'm not a gamer at all so to me the biggest thing I'm looking at is that the overall performance for watching sports went from an 8.0 rating for the U7 to an 8.2 rating for the U8. I'm just like you - not really big on specs as most of that stuff goes over my head but if you are interested here's a good site that compares the 2 models:

I watched a few videos that compared the 2 models and a lot of times the differences seemed very minimal although a few times the overall brightness of the U8 was noticeably better. But when I blocked out the U8 picture the U7 looked pretty damn good. Right now the U7 is 33% cheaper than the U8 so that might play a factor too. I am leaning towards the U8 though and hopefully the price will drop a bit during the Boxing Day sales or when the U9 drops.

SPV - what's your take on how the U7 handles fast moving sports like hockey and football ???? Thanks for your input. :thumbu:

I have a friend with one, he loves it. I'm contemplating getting one to replace my 8ish year old LG b7 oled that's starting to have some issues.

I originally was going to get the LG G4, but seems as I get older I get cheaper.
