Any way the Sharks trade Clowe?

Contrary to what ppl here believe, I think Clowe will be re-signed. They don't have a legit PFWD to fill in, and DW is all about using size

Except Clowe isnt a power forward.
He may have the size and will fight every once in awhile, but he doesnt go to the tough spots on the ice.
Over the last few years, it looks like he tries to emulate Thornton on the side boards. He likes to bring the puck down the wing, he pulls up and gives the opposing D time to get their body on him. Clowe either isnt strong enough or doesnt have the hands (more likely) to give himself space and make a reasonable pass. He tends to lose the puck and lately he is losing his balance a lot and ends up on the ice. He doesnt really fit with the puck possession game that our top 6 plays, but at this point, there really isnt anyone else that does.
I doubt he will be re-signed at this point. Some team out there will throw a stupid contract out there and DW isnt going to match it.

Yeah my feelings exactly. I'm sure there will be a GM willing to give him $4 million and hope he turns it around in his new team. Wilson would be stupid to match it.
I think Wilson will keep him until the end of the year, then let him go via FA. If we need a PWF, Wilson might sign a lesser one ie. Smyth

I don't think he needs to be traded. He is playing horrible but maybe a line change could help. Havlat and him seem to mix like oil and water. Put Pavs back at center with him or put him with Thornton and he'll break out of his slump. He's played well with Jumbo previously too.
However, now isn't the time with the top line performing the way they are. Now is the time to demote him to the 3rd or 4th (away from handzues and w/Gomez) and promote Burish, TJ, or Shep ..who actually played great in that last game defensively.
We can't afford to lose his toughness unless we get it back in the trade. Maybe big bird's bag skates will help his awful skating ability??

Exactly what I was thinking. But I am not sure if Hertl is going to be ready for the 13-14 season.
I have a feeling DW tries to move Clowe at the trade deadline to get somebody who is a better skater than him.

Agree 100% but I wish it wasn't true. Love the guy when he's a rampaging gorilla on the ice. Just doesn't happen very often . He will get a sick offer in ufa that no one will believe and his sharks career will be over. I hope for the sharks sake they trade him sooner than later for a young player that might develop into a pf. For slow and big body on the lower lines (where clowe belongs right now) I prefer Zeus with his screens, defensive play and 99% face off percentage.
Tj looks worlds better already so might be top 6 material by game 20. He has legit skill and speed and brains, just needs confidence. Ideally shep finds the magic he lost in minn. he was a legit top 6 prospect who wasn't developed correctly. Wingles can spot in the top 6 too.

The answer is no. Despite what the airchair GMs on this board think. Many here undervalue size and toughness. I predict 5 years from now Clowe will still be a Shark playing on the 4th line. Holding the puck in the offensive zone and dropping the gloves when it's call for.
Should he replaced by a sniper on the 2nd line? Yes. Seto for Braun please...or something similar. Should he be re-signed? Yes. You don't let guys that like that go if they want to stay.

Clowe is like #1 on the power forward list around the league but somehow on the Sharks board he's not one at all?

Because according to the league, any big bodied forward is called a power forward. A powerforward has to consistently use his big body to drive the net and score goals/create rebounds. A powerforward does not stop at the blue-line, slow play down, and try a dozen hopeful passes before it leads to a goal.
