Will jarmo make any trades in the future to upgrade the D or will jarmo sit back and do nothing and continue to let the team struggle?

There's not much to do unfortunately. We need a top 2 dman. Teams do not give up top 2 dman. I saw where we tried to do a prospect swap with Anaheim (rychel/Theodore). They declined

The notion that Yarmo is "sitting back and doing nothing" seems rather silly. Ofc ours he is not just sitting around. But making a big difference-making trade 2 weeks into the season is not exactly an easy or likely thing to be able to do.

If shutting down defensively is an issue, there's a massive Belarussian defenseman in Cleveland who was signed this offseason who could help.

And if not him, then Justin Falk is there.

And if not him, Dean Kukan was signed this offseason.

And if not him, Michael Paliotta was acquired in the Saad trade.

And if not him, Andrew Bodnarchuk was signed this offseason.

And not a single one of them was called up before firing the coach. Not everything can be solved in the trade market, and I don't know whether it should be the first place to go. If the bottom pairing has been this bad, why not call up one of these guys and see what they can do before immediately jumping into the market?

Good point. I'd rather see some of our young guys before we leverage our future.

Exactly. For some reason, some fans seem to think getting great, young defensemen is easy. Our only hope is that our young defensemen (Murray, Werenski, etc....) continue to develop.

Eight games is the fastest I have seen a team go from playoff contender to rebuild mode.

At least we didn't trade and gave a pile of money for Dougie Hamilton, he's doing his magic in Calgary now. Watch the Ovechkin and Kuznetsov goals against the Flames. He's plain dumb and stupid. The people who wanted to trade farm for him should be ashamed.

I really hope we don't trade Rychel for anything less than a top defenseman, because I think Rychel can help this team right now but there's a logjam in front of him and he's stuck in the AHL

Just like the Foligno hate its still a bit early to jump on the anti-Dougie train... :shakehead

IMO there must be "more to the story" when it comes to Johansen. People's opinions on him seem to change very quickly. The way that "top line" and whole team has looked after the 1st 30-35 min of game 1 is VERY concerning. Even as they continued to put up points, they've looked bad and WE LOSE GAMES OVER AND OVER. I'm not gonna get into it with the Wennberg "hype" but we should have NEVER moved Anisimov. Not only have "we waited for a top line center for 10+ years" we also waited for legit center depth throughout the lineup. We HAD that last year. You people still wanna refer to it as the Saad/Dano trade, and claim that "Anisimov was gone after his last contract anyway", but a SKILLED AND VERY GOOD DEFENSIVELY RESPONSIBLE CENTER should have never been moved off this team. He should have been resigned.

NOBODY has even brought up the idea that losing Anisimov might actually be a HUGE factor in this losing streak to start the year. It was brought up by 1 of our Russian's that Arty and Bob's wives were very close. I'm going to GUESS, so were Bob and Arty. Not to mention Anisimov was also probably our best PKer. Also if you've caught any recent CHI games they are using Arty in another 1 of his underappreciated roles that he played here from time to time, VERY WELL. In front of the net on the PP. While we throw Clarkson and Bourque out front on our PP's. You people don't want to admit it BUT THIS IS THE 1 MAIN THING THAT CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR. The idea that Saad (or Johansen) CANT be the problem is crazy to me. Boll, Clarkson, Bourque and Prout are NOT good NHL hockey players. They also are NOT the main reason why we are not only losing, BUT LOOKING LIKE ABSOLUTE **** WHILE LOSING.

Trade the ****in golden boy. He is a ****ing infection. Package him with Saad if you can throw Clarkson in there to clear cap. The idea that there is a connection with Johansen putting up points and the CBJ winning is CLEARLY FALSE.

And you people want MORE Johansen's!?!?

I'm starting to lose it with A LOT of you people. IT SHOULD BE:

THE BLUEJACKETS

NOT

RYAN JOHANSEN and the bluejackets

You better believe there's more to all this Johansen ****. AND THE MAIN PROBLEM!?!?! The reason's these things are probably "kept hidden" is so baby boy doesn't get MORE DISGRUNTLED. EVEN MORE reason to trade his ***** ass.

Why didn't we keep and build around Zherdev?? And why was he treated the way he was by most of you? A more skilled player than Johansen. Hell Anisimov is more skilled AND better defensively AND plays a more important position than Saad.

Holy false dichotomy. There are plenty of other views out there, including mine. I think getting a capable PMD (like Spurgeon) is very costly but well worth it for a team as unbalanced as ours.

The difference is: Foligno doesn't produce now just like the whole team, Hamilton has been doing his magic all the time. You can get out of the slump, but you can't become smart.
