Chris, I highly suggest you just grab a taxi from the airport to your hotel. Unfortunately neither MisissaugaTransit, TTC, nor GO Transit offer a very direct route there. Anything you need to know about your hotel area, just PM me as I lived there for a few years, and still consider it my home. Your hotel is not right in downtown Toronto, it's in the west end of Toronto proper. You will be right across from Lake Ontario and some lovely parks should you want some quiet time.
Since you're on holiday, take the streetcar from your hotel to downtown! It's a great way to see the city, especially if you're not in a rush. The closest subway stations to your hotel are Keele and Dundas West.
Please don't get your hopes up about Andreychuk in Hamilton. You'd be more likely to bump into players in the city of Toronto. it is easy enough to hop on a bus or trani from Union Station to Hamilton, but there is no Andreychuk stuff there I know of to make it worth an hour or so there, plus getting back. You could, whilst in Hamilton, visit the very first Tim Hortons!
The baseball games here are super cheap - you can get them for $10.00.
Kensington Market is not so much an Asian Market as an ethnic market. To me it feels funny writing that, because nothing in Toronto is really ethnic to me! It's not a mall but real shops, sort of like a British High Street. The great thing is that it is full of many small and ecclectic shops, that carry anything form real deli, cheese shop, bakery, seafood to vintage clothing, and even a yarn shop owned by a friend of mine. Just off of the Market is a great little street called Baldwin with some nice, not too pricey restaurants. It's urban taste with a small town feel. For great Asian food, pop down to Dundas and Spadina. A lot of places look like holes in the wall and aren't big on decor, but the food at most is fresh and inexpensive. If it's busy they'll probably sit you at a table with others. My fave one is Excellent Peking House - lunch there is about the same price as McDonalds but much tastier.
Another food tip, please support our hot dog vendors, chip wagons(french fry trucks), and the ice cream trucks! Those folks are out there all day, and the hot dogs are great. Where else can you get a meal(hot dog/sausage, fries, drink, ice cream) for under $6.00?
I actually live half way between the airport(Pearson) and your hotel so please let me know if you need any info. I love my city, warts and all, am love showing it to people!
