since it has been a "thing" over the last 10-15 years or whatever, are there any players who shave when the rest of their teamates are growing it or trying to grow it

Matthews
Marner
Nylander
Mcdavid
RNH
Backstrom
Oshie
Lindholm

Malkin has never had one.

Lots of these guys are trying or did try. McDavid has a ridiculously patchy beard going on right now. There's a huge difference between refusing to a grow a beard and not being able to grow a beard.

I believe the playoff beard started with the early 80's Islanders, but I don't think the whole team did it even then.

yes it did, however in the last 10-15 years it is seeming almost every player is growing one when before that it seemed only a few guys would grow it

For any younger guys reading this thread, i'm going to let you in on a little/big secret, you can thank me in 5 to 10 years. the secret is as follows, even if you aren't growing much more than peach fuzz on your face right now, just keep shaving your face every single day -- even if nothing is showing on the razor after usage, or under the electric blades, just keep doing it every day.

Well I'm obviously not and never will be competing for the Cup, but I know I wouldn't want to. The itch I get about four days into growing a beard is agonizing and it takes like two weeks to break through to being non-itchy again. It's hell on face and I wouldn't want it to distract me while playing.

I see this myth is still alive and well.
