Any cities you wish had a team (not in Canada)?

Realistic: Atlanta, Milwaukee, San Diego (maybe won't be a success but big market without much competition in sports terms), GTA (I know thread starter said non-Canada but think it could work)

Unrealistic/long shots; Hartford (nostalgia reasons), Dakotas (would be historic, population is growing, background in hockey), Orlando (more selfish reasons its the biggest metro I live closest to, never gonna happen with Tampa's success but I'd like to see at least an AHL team, Solar Bears even midweek draw around 6K)
I've often wondered if teams on Orlando and even Jacksonvile may not even help he Lighnting by creating rivalries between the cities.

I suspect the Lightning being in Tamps Bay don't create many hockey fans in Jacksonville, at least not as much as if Jacksonville had its own team and they have two immediate and then Miami in the mix as rivals.

The Sunshine Cup Series!

I have to say, as someone who has a lot of family in North Dakota, that would be awesome. However, their biggest metro area (Fargo) is still like 20 percent smaller than even Green Bay so obviously not viable for the NHL, as you acknowledge. Those people do love hockey though

With one change- a new name.

Either one of

The Phoenix Scorpions
The Phoenix Roadrunners

Odd they chose the name of an animal that's more or less a big ass rodent that will kill and eat eople's cats or dogs and even attack toddlers.
2 decent names, I'm still disappointed in Utah not running with Outlaws so I hope the new Phoenix team (down the road) takes Outlaws

Cincinnati - revive the Stingers and have a natural rivalry with Columbus and Pittsburgh.

Charlotte - city is nearing three million people and nearly a three-hour drive away from Raleigh, so it wouldn't have any negative impact on the Hurricanes

Orlando - should keep the Solar Bears name.

Austin - gives Texas a second team and the first "big four" team in the city.

Sacramento - another California team that would become geographic rivals with the Sharks.

Sir, with all due respect, have you seen how bad Charlotte sports is? An NHL team there would be cursed. Our NBA team has drafted two league MVPs and neither played a game here

Yeah, but we did better than expected for an MLS expansion team for a couple of seasons. Totally equivalent, IMO.

Gainesville Fl since that's where I live

Lightning fan?
Wife by chance a Mammoth fan?

😏

I feel... seen.

Forget about an NHL team here though. I think the entire county we're in only has about 350,000 people or so, and Gainesville proper is... 150,000 I want to say, off the top of my head? Not sure if that includes the seasonal UF students.

We could, however, start with getting a damn ice rink here already. We don't have one. Closest one is over in Jacksonville. UF has a club hockey team, but they practice and play down in the Tampa Bay area instead of going over to Jacksonville. Must be an ice availability issue, although if you're committed to a drive of over an hour to get to where you're going, taking about two hours to get down to the bay area isn't much of a big deal compared to the hour and a half or so it takes to get over to Jacksonville.

AAU national champions in division 2, yes. I didn't know about the AAU until I moved here and looked up the Gators hockey team. I did, however, know about the ACHA, since I moved here from Tempe, and Arizona State was an ACHA team until they converted up to NCAA D1.
