He shouldn’t have been the head coach in the first place, I blame Maxx Crosby for threatening to leave if he didn’t get promoted to head coach.

New regime, new coach.

Get this right, Mark Davis has no say in this hire.

Considering what he had to work with and how the players liked him stupid decision in my opinion.

Nope, bad hire to begin with.

Couldn’t make up his damn mind with the QB situation. His bread and butter, which was defense was awful all year. Played scared, bad block management, tired old cliche’s that didn’t do much, messed up the draft positioning.

Players threaten to leave if Pierce wasn’t hired as FT coach, how’d that work out in his first full year? All bark, no bite.

His assistant coaches knew when Brady was hired as part owner, their ass was grass. So he and the rest of the staff were just there to collect checks until the season was over.

He was seemingly awful at the game management stuff so I get it, but I also don’t know who could’ve gotten anything more out of that roster.
Strikes me as a fair firing. No, a good coach probably couldn't have gotten it done with that roster. But Pierce seems like a bad coach anyway, so might as well move on now.

2 wrongs do not make a right. That’s what basically happened with the Pierce hire.

The team really needs stability. Next hire needs to be someone that is given the reigns for a while. As much as I hate it, if that means they move Crosby so be it. Can’t allow 1 player to dictate the timeline of the overall team.

Least surprising news. This team completely cratered after that crazy win against the Ravens.

Give my guy Brock somebody good to work with!
Pierce opted to roll with Minschew for half the season. Bad call.

Maybe he was in over his head but they really didn't give him much to work with. Players liked him but I guess if he messed the draft positioning he wasn't good at tanking either. Brady definitely will want to put his hand on all the decisions now suppose was inevitable he was gone. Just liked the guy but it's business.

pierce was set up to fail from the start

not saying he's a good coach or anything, but there isn't any coach out there who would've succeeded with what the raiders gave him

The minute Tom Brady was introduced as the part owner of the Raiders, everyone on that coaching staff knew they were on borrowed time. Don’t forget, Richard Seymour is part of the ownership as well. Both those guys will have say on the management, coaching plus player roster outlook for 2025.

Mark Davis, who doesn’t know f***ing shit about football, can handle the business aspects of the team. All the football moves after he took over have been shit.

Would tanking have gotten Pierce and his assistants another year with the Raiders? Not likely. I mean, 3 offensive coaches were fired around their bye week.

Raiders just poorly run team. Hire bad people at the top. The problem with rebooting the regime is that you end up with someone else's players that probably not fit your scheme. Thus eat a boatload of dead money.

Raiders roster, as I see it:
OL - Miller, Powers-Johnson, Glaze seem ok enough at the Tackles and C. Miller, some concern about him getting dinged up in the past 2 years, but I'd roll with him for his final year under contract. Not interested in giving him a new deal. OG needs upgrades.
WR - Myers is a WR2. Tucker speedster so more WR3. Need a WR1. Bowers and Mayer can be a 2 headed monster at TE, but maybe end up moving Mayer though with his personal leave, I doubt he'd fetch much. So, probably better to keep him.
RB - can get an upgrade in a very deep RB class in round 3.
QB - trash. AOC can be a solid backup.

DL - Crosby and Wilkins are excellent, though both got hurt this season. Koonce is a free agent. Wilson looks like a bust. Not enough for a 7OA pick.
LB - Spillane and Deablo are free agents. Need some help at LB
S - Moehrig finally stepped up and is a free agent. Hobbs is a nickel DB, so only a certain amount they should pay him. Jones, still another season, but I wouldn't trust him with a big contract. Let him play out his rookie deal. Likely look to upgrade afterwards. Leaves Bennett as the long term CB.

Kicking tandem is good.

That roster doesn't spell one that can afford to give up assets for a QB that isn't great, which is what this draft class is. Hopefully Brady sees the holes and realizes this will take like 2 more drafts to fix.

At 6OA, can get the top rated WR McMillan. Edge in Carter. DT in Graham. CB in Johnson. If the 2 QBs go to Ten/Cle. All are need positions. Rd 2, add to IOL. Rd 3, RB and Jets pick add to one of the areas of weakness.

But, really limited options at QB in the off-season.

No shot at Johnson. Probably now in the Vrabel sweepstakes.

Good post and I agree with most of it but Parham and Meredith have both been really good at G this year so I don't see them going anywhere.

Also, do you think Brady will actually be involved in the draft process? I highly doubt it as I can't see him wanting to put in the time scouting players and if he's not doing that then they better not be listening to him. He was obviously going to be on the hiring committee but that doesn't indicate much.

Guards, just the fact that they can't secure first downs on short yardage is an issue. Maybe an upgrade at RB is what they need or secure a long term solution at LT if Miller is beginning to break down vs play to his mid 30's. They won't draft a OG in round 1. Depending on need, or Miller's health, can see them going OL in round 2 or 3.

Brady, not getting involved in the scouting. I think at most he'd attend both QBs pro day and be in on their meetings to give his feedback. Offer what he thinks of them. Aside from that, he's not going to PSU to meet with Carter or watch him workout, same with McMillan. WIll leave that to GM and scouts.

Mark Davis should not be in the football decision making, every move he’s done has been terrible. Keep him away.

I didn't know this. I wonder what % he has - he made some good money in his career but a far cry from what Brady made and currently makes as an analyst.

One can hope.

But raiders need to block out the noise. Focus on building a team.

The media will hype up QBs, much like 2022 where they threw up Malik Willis and to a lesser extend Matt Corral.

Plus, the developmental QB does not seem to exist. Since Dak like 9 years ago we have only Hurts and Purdy that are post 1st rounders that have earned qB1 status. Levis and AOC could hit the bench next season. Ridder was given a chance and flopped.

So I would t blow a day 2 pick on a QB unless I’m really going to give them a chance. Too many clubs have blown those picks in the likes of Davis Mills, Kellen Mond, Kyle Trask.
