Yeah, it will be interesting to see how things play out in the off-season with the goaltending.
The most games Ullmark has every played in a season is 49 games and that was his Vezina winning season in 22-23. He missed a pretty big chunk of the season with injury this year.
We definitely need a very capable back-up.
All things point to that being Leevi with the way he played when he came in earlier this year and basically saved the season for us. Not to mention the amount of cap space he would save, which is crucial for this team right now. That said, he is 22y/o and has a total of 14 NHL games under his belt.
If they decide to go with Leevi as the back-up, they are going to have to find a very solid #3, who is willing to sign a two-way deal and play in the AHL, at least to start the season. Something to remember is that Sogaard moves to one-way deal at $775k next season and all things point to him not being that #3 guy that we will need and I don't think Forsberg is going to be that guy because he has very likely earned himself a NHL contract for next season.
I don't think anyone else we currently have in the organization fits that need (maybe Malcom Subban?)
We will have to bring in a veteran that is agreeable to a 2-way deal and able to come in and have the ability to come in and play some games for Ottawa if injuries happen. Someone like Dustin Tokarski?
Maybe bring back Magnus Hellberg?
