Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024 season thread)

Regardless of the probable Bergevin ascension, I'm just happy that Blake is out and I hope he does not have any role within the organization going forward.

It was always going to be like this. His career is highlighted by f***ing over the Kings and now he gets to add worst GM tenure since McMaster. At least DT won a playoff series without a legit development system or ownership that would spend money. All he had to do was get rid of Rob Blake to make that happen!

What a ride to wind up exactly where many predicted: no success and living in the black hole.

Oh shit

Rosen nonchalantly unveiling the nukes

I was going to say Blake actually did well this year--it almost felt like that last gasp of DL where it sounded like he was ready to rebuild, but it was too late...similar scenario here, too little too late. If this was the year we had in 2023 or 2024, I think most of us would have been more ok with it. But it had just been too long.

Of course, the bigger problem is if it's JUST Blake walking...if everyone else stays unscathed, we're in a WORSE spot.

Management needs to go scorched earth and get rid of all the cancer.

Lets say if this is true right, and Hiller didn't tell them this then it leads me to one conclusion.

Doughty and Kopitar are the worst leaders in the entire NHL. Biggest mistake organization ever made was planning to promote a multiple Lady Byng "winner" to captain and some caveman who has been a clown his entire career as the "vet leadership" of the Kings.

Lady Byng trophy has to disqualify a player from captaincy.

and if Hiller couldn't get them out of the hole, he still needs to go too.

Seems pretty clear that Blake has never had complete control over the roster so I wouldn't be surprised if that annoyed him. Plus Blake always makes sure that things end on his terms (or at least appear that way) so it could just be messaging on his side.

The fact that Hoven is silent says everything. His sources did not give him a heads up on this. If Blake was planning on leaving, he would have given his buddy the Mayor a heads up. This was engineered by someone who does not leak to Hoven, likely Dan Beckerman. I would bet a lot of money that Luc was blindsided as well. I look for the Kings to hire a President of Hockey Operations before they hire a GM.

Blake leaving means nothing if Luc, Bergevin, and Hiller all get to stay at their positions. The slate needs to be completely wiped for the team to have any future success, a complete purge of all upper management. I'm still baffled and livid that Hiller basically threw the series with his terrible tactics, especially in games 3 and 4. Also, Trevor Lewis needs to f*** off and retire already. Also want to see Doughty gone if possible.

Reading between the lines here- Hoven had Blake staying, that was likely leaked by Luc. The fact that Blake is gone means Luc was overruled. Luc's press release is quite short and to the point, he probably did not expect this. I suspect Luc may have been shoved aside on this decision.
Blake made the decision, not Luc. Blake sees the coming disaster with the aging top guys.

It’ll be interesting to see if Blake lands somewhere else like San Jose or Colorado again. I’m thinking Blake just wanted to get out of there before the ship goes down.

If that's the case, why wouldn't they announce Luc being let go in the same press release?

Think they sat back cos they were gassed with Hiller’s lack of time management
