Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024 season thread)

You have to be pretty old to get the reference. Most people under 40 won't get it.
I'm well over 40 and I don't get any references other than the idea that "baby juice" could conceivably be interpreted as a name for a bodily fluid but given that the dude's overused nickname is "Juice" I just assumed that since it was an announcement of his baby that it would just mean "the baby of the man we call Juice"

Not everything has to be something.

Stop using nicknames for players.

juice box would be more apt to a baby name. Why is he even called Juice?
The term Juice is sport term used when a player is really good and excels at what he does. I've heard it used outside of sports too. I think it was Lombardi who first started calling him that because of how well he played and said had the "it factor" or whatever. The negative part comes from OJ Simpson who was called "The Juice" for obvious reason , then well, we know what happened later.

Yeah, that third Naked Gun movie sucked.

On a serious note, here's a piece on Carter George and a bit of the process that had him drafted and growing up a Kings fan.

He also gave a comment on fellow Kings prospect, Jared Woolley, as they just faced eachother in the OHL playoffs. I love this bit: Carter George: Lifelong Kings Fan Ready for Probable AHL Debut This Weekend

"I was a bit ticked off because he scored two goals on me in that [playoff] series, and I wasn’t too happy about it afterward,” George stated, apparently needing to first get that off his chest before putting on his scouting hat. “Woolley is a great player and he fought some tough guys this year, showing that tough presence he brings. He’s tough to play against and all of our forwards were pretty pissed off when they had to match up against him. I think he has a lot of potential, and he works at it. He’s a super special kid and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do. We’ve been texting back and forth a lot, so I’m really happy to see him succeed the way he has this year and was really happy to see him sign a contract.”

Imagine being Lundqvist. Being a stalwart goalie for so many years and then some guy named Quick shows up, plays great for 6 years, and wins 2 cups. Dudes get smashed on miller lite and barely puts together sentences.

Then you have Lundqvist, staring into the camera, pretending to smile, with his nice hair and snazzy suits. Cupless nonetheless.

The King with no ring.

At the risk of being 'that guy' in 2-3 weeks -- the Kings are beating the Oilers this year. Yup.
Not only that, they will win against whomever they play in the 2nd round as well....ultimately losing in the WCF against Colorado or Dallas.

The team feels different this year. If they can find a way to not be on their heels against Edmonton, you may be on to something ....

I also feel like the rest of the league and West (outside of Dallas/Colorado) is watered down. Colorado might be the only team that i can't see any way whatsoever that they can beat in the West. The Pacific this year is ripe for the taking playoff wise.

Therein lies the rub though, does it not?

These guys enter the rink completely shellshocked vs. Edmonton and Colorado. No matter 'how different' this team 'feels' this year, until I see them playing on their toes against either of these teams, they're f***ed.

I think it's more important not to take 19 penalties against a really good pp. I'm pretty sure Grundstrom [now a Shark] took one on his first shift in game 1. :shakehead

Let's go!!! The magic number is 2
