Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024 season thread)

Yup. This is my position, and I’ve been done with the Blake regime since like 2019.
Well, all his moves for this season have been winners. Can't stand the guy but we judge on results and the results are good.
I hate to be the guy, but someone has to....

Did Blake make these moves or was it Bergeron?
Edmondson was one of his players in MTL

Blake tried to get Edmundson back when Bergevin got him in Montreal so hes been on the Kings radar a long time. Dubois was also on Blakes radar because they tried to get him before he went to Winnipeg.

For all the sniveling we do about Blake being rudderless, he pails in comparison to what Marky Mark did in Montreal.

So yeah, who the hell knows. We are living in a bizarro timeline as Kings fans right now.

So nice I had to quote it twice

Blake coveted Edmondson years ago. They try to get them four or five years ago. There was talk at the time. Then shortly after Edmonson had signed, he had got hurt and his play regressed, and there was many happy that Blake dodged that bullet.

Some crazy stat I was just informed about with Kempe and Fiala having both hit the 30 goals in a season mark.

The last time the Kings had two 30 goal scorers in a single season was 2007-2008 season. A 23 year old Dustin Brown had 33 and a 20 year old Anze Kopitar had 32. The funniest part about that stat is the captain of that team.....none other than Rob Blake 🤣

Anyone else think they blow it and drop down to 3rd in the division, giving away their biggest advantage with home ice?

I've been saying this for months

Until they prove otherwise, they are consistently who we think they are, this is on pace to be like every season for the last 4. On pace for 103 points and +38--last season was 99 points and +41, previous 104/+23, prior to that 99/+3.

Nothing really has changed--PP still sucks, they still wilt under physical or mental pressure, they still get pushed around by the Oilers and fall apart. I'd love it all to be even slightly different but it's Groundhog Day thus far.

It's still going to be trying to win 2-1 and 3-2 OT games. It hasn't worked the previous three seasons, but they do have a much better goaltender this season than they did the previous three.

They have the best defensive system in the league, and really it's not even close. But the rules don't favor defense, it's tough to expect to win multiple playoff rounds by taking the air out of the ball and running and playing defense.

It's very unlikely they get caught by Edmonton, I think the Oilers chances of finishing 2nd died last night.

Even a mediocre power play that didn't take the air out of the building or lead to chances against would find them the favorite in a series vs. most teams

but the way it is you can foul the kings with impunity because it will only lead to a momentum shift for you

Let's just start with one...

People try and bring up the system, but PP's are more about the personnel, the Jimmy's and Joe's and not the x's and o's.

The Kings fading of flawed skilled players for years at the draft table, free agency and with trades is the biggest reason the PP sucks. Even taking a chance on 1 or 2 guys who aren't "well-rounded" could have salvaged this PP.

I'm not sold that having good PP stats going in to the playoffs will mean shit. Last year, Kings had the #2 PK in the league, and it did NOTHING for us in round one.

LOL at "Jimmys and Joes, not the xs and os"
Never heard that before.

(Not being a know-it-all, just recommending an unknown readable great book about punctuation...'s imply ownership, s alone is for plurals...small book: Eats, Shoots and Leaves. As in "a panda walks into a bar and eats shoots and leaves" or "a panda walks into a bar and eats, shoots, and leaves."
For seem reason I think @LtDan will appreciate this.)

There is a reason I was a history major.

When you take 18 penalties in a 5 game series, even the best PK will fall. And even if the Kings countered with an average pp, they'd still lose by a goal.
