re: Flyers needing a goalie...any of Rittich, Copley, Portillo, George, Slukynsky don't make sense...and rumored to possibly move: Risto, Farrabee, Laughton, none make sense. (maybe Laughton but if Hiller goes 11/7, matters not so much) Konecny would be great, but not at what they would want.

I do think there may be a way out, deep left field move before or at the TDL. Just a feeling. May be last time they can take a run with Kopi and Drew - right or wrong. And yes, most would say wrong.
As in not dealing futures or a Greentree, Ziemmer, George, Slukynsky.

It's honestly surprising that the Kings are tied for 2nd, coming into this year with Drew out, Keumper in as #1 at 34 and coming off a poor season...and other additions Foegele, Jeannot, Edmundson.
I thought Foegele could repeat his 20-20-40 season, but he's going to surpass that and such a valuable player, 5 on 5 and on the PK.

Jeannot has not been great, but he's played well and works hard, doesn't take shift off and working well with QB and Foegele. He can score in close. He has legit finishing skills. Edmundson has been better than I thought he would. Good team guy, upgrade from Englund and good vet in the room.
I thought he'd take cross check penalties every other game and he hasn't.

Craziest stat ever. Well, one of craziest ever. Kuemper's career record as a King: 19-3.
There, I just jinxed his next game. 10-1 in 17-18 and 9-2 this season. I recall saying in 2018,
without Kuemper and his 10-1 record, the Kings miss the playoffs...most any 2nd goalie the Kings could have had that year, probably goes 7-4 or 6-5 and they miss the playoffs. Kudos to his great play and help giving the Kings a better record than I thought possible.

wonder if we will get to see kaliyev play in the nhl or if the plan is to cryogenically preserve him for future study in the press box?
can the 3 stooges forgive the grudge or resentment or whatever kind of bizarre insult they feel he gave them? its starting to be apparent the stooges are determined to destroy any chance this kid had at an nhl career

Although it is clear from your numerous posts that you have amazingly strong pulse for grudges and resentment, you must have forgotten or fail to acknowledge that the org was perfectly ready and willing to give Kaliyev a ‘fresh start’ coming into the season. Maybe you missed it, but he broke his clavicle in Sep and has been out a few months.

The team had just called him up two games ago and he most likely will not get on to the starting roster until there is an injury or if there needs to be a shakeup due to losses.

That’s just how it works and I’m glad I could clear it up for you.

Great post though, the ‘3 stooges’ part was super funny.

I personally think the ship has sailed on Kaliyev, and there isn’t any fixing it short of him scoring 30 goals in the 15 games he gets this year.

However, I also think it’s absolute lunacy to continue playing 11/7 with Burroughs costing the team at least a goal a game with consistency. I’d rather they dress Arty and f***ing staple him to the bench, than watch that “toughness” from Burroughs cost the team nightly. Right shot be damned.

I probably agree especially with Burroughs. Thomas should be playing instead of Kaliyev so it needs to be between Lee and Kaliyev until Moore is back.

A part of me just wants him to be traded so we could know for sure if there is anything there or not.
The infatuation with Kaliyev around here is perplexing. At this point, where would you insert him into the lineup to satisfy this strange thirst for a guy that hasn’t proven much at this point?

Burroughs is a d-man, what line are you putting Kaliyev on? And don’t tell me you guys wouldn’t be crying over playing him on the 4th line.
It’s less about the line Kalyiev is put on, and it’s more about sitting Burroughs to get away from his multiple weapons grade f***-ups in his 5 minutes of ice time.

The team is better when that dolt isn’t on the ice. Simply isn’t an NHL player.

Interesting take (not really). Problem is, this would require Hiller to move away from 11-7, and he’s not gonna do that while it continues to bring so much success. Burroughs may be scratched, but it will be for Doughty not Kaliyev.

Look, I can imagine this is hard for some because it requires critical thinking skills. However, I’m sure you win multiple cups on XBox with your shrewd GM’ing skills.

Baffles me that Burroughs cracks the lineup over Enlgund when Hiller runs 11/7, and I don't understand what the coaches see in his on ice performance. I don't give a shit if he works and trains hard off the ice, the guy actively hurts the team's chance to win therefore he should sit. His so called "toughness" isn't even a factor right now.

Its clearly to have flexibility with Clarke (and less so Spence) should they need to rest/teach one of their young and undersized RHD.

I understand the sentiment, but I don’t think Burroughs has had more than a few games above replacement level? At least not in my (albeit suspect) memory.

He certainly is good at teaching how not to be an effective NHL defenseman.

It will be resolved once Doughty returns. In the meantime, its difficult to expect anybody to play a shift or two per period and be fully up to game speed and have a confident touch on the puck. Its a thankless job, its been a struggle at times, but it seems to be helping the forwards get more involved in the game.

I am not really all that interested in dissecting Hiller's approach quite yet.

I mean he’s obviously unserious.

Running 11-6 with Burroughs out would be an improvement.

That's probably the thinking, but Burroughs can't get through 5 minutes of ice time most nights without coughing up a goal.

So don't play him at all.

This isn't a prospect/kid we're trying to get up to game speed. It's a veteran dman whose only job is to be prepared for his limited ice time and he's failing at that miserably. It's like a backup goalie who can't get it done because he can't get in a rhythm. We call both of those phenomena waiver fodder. Or we should anyway.

One of my concerns at this point with Byfield is being able to consistently beat goaltenders at the NHL level with his shot. I've noticed he doesn't get a lot of flex on his stick, and his shot was never really a top aspect of his game in junior, scoring most of his goals in close proximity.

The timing on this can seem a bit silly given him beating Skinner twice and cleanly the other night, but Skinner is a turd. That's like the only time I've seen Byfield genuinely beat an NHL goalie with a wrister.

I remember an interview in his draft year where he conceded his shorter stick "is bad for some wrist shots" but he prefers it for stick handling in tight and snap shots. I just hope he continues to work on his shot and shoot more. It'd be nice to see him get a lot of flex on the stick and go bar down for once.

His wrist shot was always described as "heavy", but I am unsure if he has it in him to develop a real blistering laser with a big release, which for such a large guy is a little disappointing. We haven't seen it yet at least.

Took Tage Thompson a long time to really dial his in and now his wrister is like most guys' slapshots

Give him an offseason with Kempe
