With rumors of Pittsburgh willing to move anyone except Sid, one wonders if Blake and Dubas have had any talks, given the fact they’ve made 2 or 3 deals.
I think with DD and Kaliyev being back in the next 1-2 months, some moves will be made. All of these defensemen; Englund, Burroughs, Jones, (not sure how long he’s out) and Moverare…then Drew coming back; then add Gav not having a contract, I think a defenseman is moved.
I think Moverare deserves a chance. He’s always solid. The Kings are now playing LHD Dvorak and Booth with the Reign and they’re coming along. Also add that both Kirsanov LHD and Salin RHD could sign after their seasons and come over

I honestly wonder if they’d move Spence. He’s not progressed as much as I was hoping. He’s been ok. But that would mean Gav being signed.(good to know he can play right side) Maybe Burroughs could be moved, albeit not for much. Marcus Pettersen may be moved. His contract ends.
Would not be shocked if Dubas moved Sid or Malkin. But sure they would get their say where they go.

Kings have a history of getting star vets at 35 yrs or older . Iginla, Lecavalier, Kovy. Yeah, makes little sense to give up a price in assets for Sid or Malkin and the Kings are not 1 player away. But this is the Kings - Blake, Luc, Bergevin and prone to do the stoopid. Honestly would be cool to see what Sid or Malkin could add. But at what cost?
Seems more like a Ranger or Leafs kind of move to get one of them

I honestly wonder if a GM wants to see Portillo in an NHL game. Penguins goaltending sucks, but Portillo is not close or an answer. I’m kind of shocked that Askarov didn’t make the sharks and is in the AHL and has a 1.91 GAA. If I’m Dubas, I’d try to get him. Not sure why the Sharks are not playing him.

it would be right up Blake's alley and past MO at this point int the season to make a move for EK for something like SPence, 1st, Pinelli, Kaliyev and move some salary for high picks to make it work 🤢

MTL is looking for a RD & physical forward. Wonder if they'd be interested in Jeannot.
Why would the Kings trade Jeannot? They just gave up a 2nd and a 4th.

Also, why is Montreal looking for a physical forward when they have Xhekaj on D, Josh Anderson at forward along Michael Pezzetta. They have one of the toughest line ups already.

If you read the latest article on LA Kings insider today by Scott Burnside - seems like Tanner and his wife like it here and Hiller really likes him. The Kings don't have a player like him the system (Doty and Element are AHL players), Lawrence is a few years away, and John-Parker Jones is injured and is an AHL/ECHL player.

Helenius can fight, but he's better when he has a Doty type riding shotgun - now he has Jeannot. His upside is an Adam Lowry - can fight, hit, win face offs and pot some points. He can play. You don't want him fighting or Enforcing full time. Englund is a pending UFA, Burroughs doesn't have the size and Edmundson rarely fights.

I think a Jeannot-Helenius and either Thomas or Kayilev would be a great 4th line. I would dump Lewis.

Blake acquired Jeannot thinking he was going to play higher in the lineup than the 4th line. Did he start on Danault's line? Can't remember. He makes 2.66 million which the King's can use better than on a fourth liner. This wouldn't be a problem for a team with a better managed cap, but here we are.

MTL wants X to get better at the game & not just sit in the penalty box. They probably don't want old man Anderson fighting all the time as well. Pezzetta only has 3 games so far. They want someone that can contribute to a line & mix things up.

Jeannot 2.6
Lewis 0.800

The team's line combos completely fall apart when they are down one man. With Turcotte getting banged up a lot they need a player that can fill in up the lineup. The easiest place to free up cap space is Jeannot.

Most Enforcers who even play limited minutes are making 1 million min.

I would not be shocked if the Kings offered Jeannot a bit of a cut and a few year deal. He’s def worth 2 million at least - he can play.

Olivier makes 1.1 million.
Reaves makes 1.125 million.

But then look at the salaries of Duhaine, Deslauries, Hathaway and Trenin.

Jeannot isn't really overpaid. The issue is the King's are capped & have some roster issues that are more pressing than Jeannot.

Issues for Blake to sort out currently.

Gavrikov, extension, trade or let walk. Rather pay EK 10 than Gavrikov 8. Risto at 5 doesn't look that bad.

2nd pair right D. Even with Doughty back Spence or Clarke will have to fill that role. Could use an upgrade, especially if Gavrikov is moved.

Turcotte: need a better substitute for him when he goes down. Cheaper Foegele type.

I'd also target a 23-25 year old reclamation project. See if they can get lucky & pull a center out of nowhere. Longshot, but might as well take a swing.
