Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024-25 season thread)

Top 6, preferably, top line wing.
Top 15 goalie
D should stabilize with Doughty back.

King's need couple years down the road
Top line center (Kopi replacement)
D, second pair
Goalie

The goalie should sort itself out once the team is good. Scrivens & Jones looked great when King's won the Jennings.

Edmundson, Spence

Doughty may re-sign, may chance cups. (37 in a couple years)
Mikey, Edmundson signed to term.
Gavrikov may resign. He may be too pricey.

Center is hard, not enough good centers. Tank, draft, develop for 3 years isn't a viable plan. Need to figure out how to snag the best center possible with few assets. Offer sheet?

Jeannot: lacks jump in his game. Don't see reason to ice him over Lee. Philly is about the only team that might trade for him.
 
Wingers take a back seat behind Center and D as far as I'm concerned. No matter his development woes, I have a feeling Byfield takes Kopi's spot at C once he retires. There's really no one else in the pipeline that can go there, unless they luck out at free agency or a trade (not happening with Blucgevin as GM). I don't picture Turcotte even being in the league at that point, dude is one concussion away from retirement. Its too bad they didn't try to land O'Reilly when he was a free agent, though I doubt Blake could've even swung that.

Fox is not trying to get Fiala traded especially now because his value has dipped with this talk/

He is holding him accountable and hoping for improve on his undisciplined play.

Something he did last season.

That's the conclusion I came to a little after typing it. The team needs don't matter. What matters is what Blake thinks this team needs to compete & what player Blake believes will fill that hole. Blake is going to go for it. No retool is coming.

Got to get a lot of losses on the board to get the clowns at the top canned.

Can do some fun trades like Risto or EK65. Sure they're not going to help, but their contracts aren't that long & the goal is to get rid of Blake.
 
team needs:
new owners? i mean if aeg is happy with the present kings management and competitive results isnt the current brain trust going to stay in place? the boys have insulated themselves from any sort of interior revolts or palace coups so as long as aeg is good with the status quo why should they change anything?
 
I think it's way past due for a culture change.
Coaching and/or personnel changes don't mean anything if the Culture is the same.
A freshly painted pig is still a pig.
Time for a new culture because the cups from 11-13 years ago don't mean crap going forward.
Remembering is great, but nostalgia doesn't win you games and cups today.
