The thing is once she gets divorced, it should be out of Kane's hands regarding whether she is being supported or not. Basically it should be pretty straightforward in this case to get her share of his earnings garnished from his wages as part of the divorce settlement given the circumstances. (If Kane gambles or parties away the rest of it that is purely his problem at that point.) The problem is not getting divorced, it is about going public with these allegations if true.
Essentially the decision only arguably makes sense if she is putting the moral consideration absolutely ahead of everything else, if it about revenge it could be incredibly costly for her in this case given what could happen to Kane's contract and possibly his pension. (This is if the allegation is actually true, if it is not ironically making it may be less consequential for her, but it still was a bad idea if she is concerned about her longer term financial situation.)

On one hand, its entirely believable because of Kane's history. On the other, this story is coming from a woman who was dumb enough to marry him and be the mother of his children.

In his case, he has a rap sheet of problems where you're not shocked that hes also gambling on hockey games. Hes left casinos without paying, walked out one restaurant bills, fought with team mates, got into bar fights, skipped practices to attend the NBA all star game etc etc. This isn't Crosby or Toews were talking about here.

He’s clearly got a massive gambling problem.
It’s a disease, like drug addiction or alcoholism. Those people will lie, cheat, abandon morals, betray friends and family, all to serve their addiction.
It’s very easy to believe her if you have any idea how these addictions work.

Have you read up on libel laws in the US? Kane is, almost certainly, a public figure under US law, which means you have to prove actual malice when you sue someone for libel. Which means" with knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not."
They don't need to be substantiated to repeat them without being legally libelous. You just have to show you didn't recklessly disregard if they were false.

The guy pulled off what I thought was close to impossible which is go bankrupt as an athlete while still active on a high salary. I somewhat understand when guys go broke 3 or 4 years after playing due to the recklessness of their ways. But, going bankrupt while making 7m a year is not an easy feat to accomplish.

Typically in the US, if you can show that the lifestyle you became accustomed to by marriage changed your career or educational path (e.g. you sacrificed college or gave up your career to be a stay at home mom), that is taken into divorce consideration for alimony payments.
So if the spawn of Kane was getting $10k/mo bebeh formula and Anna Kane has receipts showing she was used to a $10k monthly dining, $100k car allowance, $10k portion of mortgage etc., this would likely be one of those TMZ stories of Ex gets $x00,000 monthly divorce settlement stories.
Because I'm a betting man, I would totally bet my salary that Evander Kane doesn't have a prenup in place.
