6 years for a 3rd liner

My god does MB and MT love bad contracts for mediocre players.

No one is ever going to touch this contract. They better pray he doesn't break down and that he succeeds in MT's anti-hockey

What's wrong in signing a 24 year old player to a six year contract?

For me, if you give 6 years to a player like Shaw... he should take a big discount on the amount. I'll go against the grain and all reports and say 3.3M. Anything over 3.7M is unfair to Gallagher.

He's 24. We get him in his prime and he's most definitely a usefull player. As long as the cap hit is reasonable we should be celebrating

Source: Andrew Shaw has a 6-year offer on the table, at close to 4 million a year.

What does close mean?

Yep, and when he scores 15 goals a year and is a warrior in the playoffs, after your 2 years, he'll become a UFA and will go to the highest bidder and you'll have lost 2 second round picks for him, everyone will complain

We already lost one pick too many acquiring him, and since picks apparently don't matter, who would care if they both went to waste, amirite?

As a Hawks fan, I'll miss Shaw, but man...that contract....good luck.
