Proposal: Andersson to Buffalo

The Sabres don't need a partner for Dahlin.

Andersson, however, is exactly what they need to get Owen Power back on track.

A signed Byram for a signed Andersson makes a ton of sense to me for both teams.

People are going to quibble because they have skewed views on one or both of the parts, or because their goal is to "win" the deal in some kind of imaginary internet GM game.

But each player has similar trade value, each is being shopped, and each is pretty much exactly what the other team needs at this particular point in time.
I like Andersson. But I disagree that he's the answer to get Power on track. Power has to get Power on track, something I don't have a lot of faith he will do.

Markstrom wasn't a 1 yr rental. He had 3 yrs of contract.

The 1st was anticipated to be in the mud 20s. If injuries didn't hammer the team ot would have. Bahl was rather expendable given their other players

Anderson at the deadline gets s late 1st× secondary prospect.
Markstrom had 2 years, not 3.

The 1st can be anticipated anywhere, a 1st is a 1st. You are vastly writing off Bahl, they preferred him over Holtz and that has proven to be a very rational point of view.

If Andersson is held onto until the deadline they will get a 1st+ a good prospect, or a 1st + a few decent assets. You undervalue how easy his contract is to fit and how many teams are looking for top 4 right handed defensemen.
The center had 3 yrs of team control. The prospect they traded was not viewed as thrir too prospect.
And McLeod was viewed as a 30 point defensive center, not a Joel Erikson Ek copy.

They are not trading assets for pure rentals who could walk.
This "pure rental" crap needs to stop being posted. There is no trade to discuss if Andersson doesn't want to extend there. Buffalo is not a rental away from contention so any conversation has to assume he signs, because Buffalo isn't going to trade for a guy that won't.

9 for 18 + Andersson. Is closer to correct value. If you want Quinn then a 26 2nd comes along too to balance it out

The problem is Buffalo needs to move salary.

Such a trade is contingent on other trades occuring
Um no it's not. The value gap between pick 9 and pick 18 is about pick 24 and a 5th. Andersson is worth quite a bit more than a mid 20's 1st and a 5th.

If Sabres need to move salary let's drop the 2025 picks and focus on a Byram for Andersson swap. Makes sense for both sides needs/wants.
