Proposal: Andersson to Buffalo

Like how Carolina would never trade Necas?... oh, wait.
Necas and Jason aren't even close to similar. Get real dude. Also, Necas had been wanting out of Carolina since the summer and made it clear his intention to want to get paid and play the C position. Big Difference.

I literally explained why in the post you quoted.
Yes and your reason was they already have 6 other players making 8M+. Maybe you didn't notice but 8M is the new 6M. The cap will be 104M when his next deal starts. Also you suggested they extend Andersson too, his contract ends the exact same year as Robertson's and he will get 8M+ too

Looking at Puckpedia they are projected to have ~36.2M cap space to work with. Let's say Robertson and Harley take up as high as 20M of that. That's still just over 16M to fill out the rest of their roster. Hell Seguin could even announce retirement a year early. The point is you sign him and figure it out later.

If you want to make a Robertson thread go do that. Stop derailing this one

Every f***ing thread on here is "derailed" by fans of teams suggesting things for one of the pieces in the OP.... but continue to gatekeep L&D... maybe they'll give you a shiny blue name!

Gate keeping? You're being ridiculous. Yes threads get detailed all the time here but they are usually more general threads that pull in lots of users. This is a very specific thread about a Calgary player going to Buffalo. How many Dallas fans do you think have seen this? Probably none, and how many do you think have clicked on one of the Marner threads? Probably quite a lot. You get my point? You are literally only debating with other Calgary fans and a random Habs fan.

You asked what it would cost to get Robertson so I suggested making a thread. At least that way you'll get an answer from Dallas fans

Everyone just ignores this lol
It's an opinion, Buffalo winters are the primary reason it's not a popular destination for free agents. Calgary winters are just as bad if not worse, yet he's been very adamant about wanting to stay. Why do people just put a hard stop on him being willing to sign in Buffalo? I'm not saying he will, but it's way to premature to say he absolutely won't.

What is the best trade return ever for defenceman one year away from UFA without a pre-arranged contract?

What about one who is a big minus and hasn’t put up 40 points in 2 years?

I think some Flames fans might need to readjust their expectations with this one.

Seth Jones to Chicago. Who said anything about Buffalo or being able to negotiate with him?

Let's not act like his production is his fault. He tied his career high in goals this season. It's his assist that dried up completely, why should he be blamed for his teammates inability to put the puck in the net

At 5v5 among all defenseman with at least 500 minutes (211 defensemen) he was:
37th in CF/60
24th in SF/60
Tied for 87th in xGF/60
202nd in actual GF/60

Tell me which one looks like the outlier?

If I'm Conroy, I don't want either of those two. Peterka would be a requirement coming back.

1. Byram
2. Ostlund + 9 for Andersson + 18
3. Kulich

Any of those I could see.

Flames need C and LD.

Perhaps because Calgary's overall defensive quality has eroded, Rasmus Andersson just had a season where his analytical value is closer to zero. Not a good season. And he's one year from UFA.

Given that, the asks are kind of over the top. There's surprisingly not many U24 players who have been more productive than JJ Peterka.

And Ostlund and Kulich are high end prospects. You'd think Calgary might be the one to add if they want a piece of that caliber.

To get Andersson? Not close.
Byram + Paterka. Getting a player like Andersson will be painful.
I mean I like the guy but he was the worst Dman for +- and overall on the flames. I know that's not a be all end all on evaluating a player but it's certainly a stat that can't be ignored, given anyone he played with was better away from him.
He was great last year but wasn't great this year.
Byram for him sounds more realistic.

It’s because they’d probably give up the best return for him. I’d happy if I was wrong.

He hasn’t been adamant about staying in Calgary. He is giving the it’s a business song and dance which is usually a sign he is gone. He has been adamant about wanting to win and being on a contender though and hard to see that with Buffalo today.

I think the organization being a dumpster fire is the primary reason they can't draw free agents. The weather is imo a little overblown. Winning cures a lot and the Sabres haven't shown they know how to build a winning club. I'd be interested in Andersson if he'd consider re-signing here, but without that extension in place I think some of these offers are an extremely rich return for Calgary.

It has to do with how good the team is.

Many hockey players are from southern Ontario where the climate/ weather us identical.

Many players who came to buffalo, retire there. Why? Resl estate is much cheaper ( the price you can buy a house in buffalo costs 3-6+ times more for an identical house elsewhere on the same
Size lot), schools are very good, you have strong agriculture ares surrounding it.

Chicago and minneapolis get s colder than buffalo in winter

A good team...players will come.

I didn't say anything about Buffalo, but this is an Andersson to Buffalo thread. I did bring up the contract because I think it affects Andersson's trade value, and I'm looking for comparables.

The Jones deal didn't work out for Chicago, but it does work as a comparable for a signed Andersson.

I agree most GMS know Andersson is a good player and will look at body of work more than last year's numbers.
