How the hell are the Islanders worse than us when we are intentionally icing the worst team we have had since the before the lockout? That is so utterly pathetic.

Do they even have any significant injuries?

Couple that with a dying fanbase and an abysmal arena, how have they convinced themselves that Tavares will stay there short of them paying more than anyone in the league for his services?

They’ve become so good at tanking, they could probably open their own consulting firm.

Poor ownership, poor front office, a bunch of holes and an inability to build around elite or franchise level talent.

They could potentially (at worst) pick up two solid defenseman like Bouchard/ Hughes and Wilde and at best they could end up with a zadina/Svechnikov and a Wilde

Chytil already looks bigger than listed.

Obviously we talk about the skill, but he’s going to be a tough guy to stop.

During the game they mentioned during this season he gained weight and is around 210 now, that's almost Kreider size there. Granted who knows how strong he actually is or isn't.

His lower body strength is EXTREMELY high for a kid his age. It’s his upper body that needs to catch up but when it does, he’s going to be 225lbs and an absolute dominant player along the boards.

Frankly, I always saw his role as just that --- a transition guy who eventually gets phased out or moved when the young talent arrives.

Namestnikov I think can find a role to play on this team over a longer period of time --- namely as a middle six support player. He hasn't found it yet, but I think the possibility is there.

I like Namestnikov quite a bit more than Spooner....though so far the production isn't there. More size and grit--better defensive awareness. Him and Buch haven't been able to accomplish much yet and I'm not sure it's a good combination. I think though the coaching staff are happy with the other lines and don't want to take them apart. Namestnikov is a guy who should play in all situations. In Tampa that's what he did. I would note that posters here ragged on JT for his 1 playoff goal in 40 games (though JT did have 15 assists)---Vlad had 1 goal in 29 Tampa playoff games and only 3 assists. I like Vlad quite a lot but I'm still not convinced that I'd rather have him than Miller.

I can't help it lol. I'm crazy high on Chytil, have been since the moment we drafted him. His size/speed/hands combination is incredibly rare, and he doesn't lack the toolbox like some.

When he matures and gets stronger, he's going to be impossible to knock off the puck.

I think he's got some serious upside... at least as much as Cherepanov did before the unfortunate happened. He needs to round out his game, but what 18 year old doesn't? Excited to see him progress

Watching him against his peers at the WJC, it was like anytime he had the puck near the boards the only time he’d lose it is when he passed it, he’s so good at getting and maintaining body position on players, and then on top of that he has the hands to deke around them in tight spaces too.

I said it somewhere here after the WJC, but he’s going to be the best player along the boards in the league his prime

He's like some sort of Hertl + Buchnevich Frankenstein thing

Speaking of weight, how the hell is Zibanejad listed at 227, dude looks like a stick outside of uniform. Though it just might be the super tight pants he wears.
If zibby is 227 then he better have martin st. louis' quads cause his upper body ain't carrying that kind of mass.

The fact that they're here and don't look out of place is so encouraging for Chytil and Andersson, when you think about how far other prospects like Stepan, Kreider, Buch, and Fast were from the NHL as teenagers. Prospects don't develop in a linear fashion and that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but there's so much potential.

Also, here's the scary thing about Chytil. I'm talking physically now, not necessarily all-around hockey.

His floor, physically, is: this is his man body and he'll grow another couple of inches. He'll be between Kreider and Hayes in terms of size, strong as an ox, with skill and speed. Lots of potential.

But I keep looking at him and thinking "he's a damn child." Look at his face. What if this isn't his man body? His physical ceiling could be Giancarlo Stanton on skates.
