Seravalli: Andersson and Flames “not on the same page” for contract extension

Not really a fan of retaining and taking on KK. Either one or the other imo
Carolina doesn’t need retention anyway. Plenty of cap space especially if Kotkaniemi is part of the package.

Shift back from Nadeau to another forward prospect (Artamonov, FUS, etc.) without retention and I think that deal makes sense.

Carolina fan here. I just wanted to say Andersson interests me. We could use a new 1RD.

Also, having a defenseman around Andersson's tier playing next to Slavin for the foreseeable future would be a really good pairing. That sounds exciting.

Hopefully Carolina and Calgary are talking to each other, or will soon, about a trade involving Andersson.
I do think Andersson would be the perfect fit with Carolina with the locker room they have. Can only imagine how goofy he’d get with Jarvis 🤣.

Andersson (50%) for Nadeau, a 1st, plus a conditional 2nd/1st based on Carolina making it to the ECF would be my proposal.

Maybe Carolina could also pay the Flames to take on KK for Backlund down the line if we’re lucky out of a playoff spot come the TDL, which is likely.

Nah, would have to be Nadeau. You are trying to outbid like half the league; a late 1st, B prospect, and a rec project isn't going to cut it.

I think Carolina is more likely to move Blake in such a deal than Nadeau. Already a full NHL player but Nadeau has the one skill Carolina has been missing for years and tried to acquire with Rantanen: a true sniper. Doubtful he's available for a rental.

If the deal is made after July 1 and Carolina can negotiate with the pending UFA, I can see Morrow being available for either Andersson or Dobson. RD on an ELC and ready to play this year would be a major acquisition for anyone.

Lol, the guy put up a -38 and I’ve read many a Flames fan looking forward to his departure. Now it’s trade talk time and the mood has shifted to …..”nothing but firsts and your best prospects for our stud!” talk. Always fascinating to watch.

Who knows that he actually gets, but if we pay firsts and Nadeau for one year of this guy Tulsky doesn’t deserve his job.

Next closest was -17!!

Andersson acknowledges last year wasnt good, so he accepts maybe he needs to play part of the year to prove himself. Puts his value lower than if an extension could be had right off.

I'd honestly rather trade after July 1st as the 2026 draft will be stronger.

Andersson with an agreed extension for Blake and 2026 Dallas first.

Flames need goal scoring and speed, 2 of Nadeau's best qualities. I could see some interest in Blake though. I see no reason Calgary wouldn't allow the Canes to talk to Ras.

Morrow is of low interest, Flames are very deep on RD

Kind of doubt the Flames would be targeting undersized wingers, especially left wingers, in any deal. Conroy has made it overtly clear he likes his big boys. It was one the reasons why Pelletier was moved; they didn't see a future with him. And regardless, the Flames already have too many wingers as it is - they need to move at least one just to give their own prospects a chance for next season. Adding more when they already don't have room to play someone like Klapka doesn't make sense.

Flames biggest needs are potential high end centres, then left defensemen and right shot wingers. Carolina hasn't drafted a centre in almost 4 years lol but they do have a few interesting left defensemen and right wingers. Could see the Flames being interested in Felix Unger-Sorum or Alexander Siryatsky (Conroy loves his random Russian defensemen). But there's probably better trade partners out there

I can't speak for others but I have never talked shit about Ras. He is an absolute warrior and a fantastic team leader. He tied his career high in goals this year too, his issue was his assists dropped off. His 5v5 GF was 42, but his xGF was 62.

+/- is a horrible stat for measuring a players effectiveness. Ras was on the ice for 5 powerplay goals against, 8 OT goals against, and 13 empty net goals against. That's -26 all by itself.

Calgary has the best (or 2nd best) RD prospect I. The world coming up, and Weegar is already locked up with term. They also have 2 other very good RD prospects in Brzustewicz and Mews. The rationale behind moving Andersson is because they are dealing from a position of strength, and he is looking for 8x8 or more.

Don’t mind this but we’d prefer a center prospect. Or, a winger prospect with promise. Would love Wood but not sure how Nashville feels about that.
RA is fine player, but Preds shouldn’t be giving up top prospects. They’re too far away from competing. Wasting $ on free agents or sending out mid round picks is bad enough, but even Trotz has to understand team isn’t 1 guy away.

What would the ask from St. Louis be?

The Blues need a top 4 RHD upgrade. Faulk could definitely be dealt this offseason, or moved down to the third pair in the event we can’t trade him.
