Seravalli: Andersson and Flames “not on the same page” for contract extension

He was already -25 before that already. And leaving the pure stat watching I thought he was involved in more mistakes than I he used to. Just my opinion, I may have a flawed perception.
He had probably the toughest assignments and lost the pp time by the end of the year. Calgary was also horrible at putting the puck in the net this year. I personally hate +\- cause it doesn’t tell the whole story. Think he was also on for something like 10-15 empty betters as well

Any idea why CGY and Anderson are so far off? Term? Dollars? What is CGYs plans? (sincerely asking, it's not a team I follow all that closely)

Makes more sense for the Flames to get assets rather than lock him in for the next eight years and Andersson might want more money to stay on a team that’s not competitive.

Seravalli is a hack when it comes to the Flames. I take this with a high degree of salt. Conroy came out earlier this week that both sides had just started talking and traded starting numbers. Of course they are going to be differences, they have barely started talks. The contract is going to be somewhere around 8x8 whether its with the Flames or somewhere else.

This has been obvious for some time. HIs exit interview made it very likely he was moving on. Honestly though, wouldn't have hated keeping him; he's become increasingly underrated after having to shoulder some of the heaviest defensive loads on the team.

If he's willing to sign an extension with an acquiring team, the return should be pretty good

I could very easily see the Jackets meeting that kind of offer.
I'd imagine LDBB would be of definite interest to the Flames, as part of a bigger package. The Blue Jackets are just a logjam up the middle if Monahan and Jenner are healthy. LDBB showed a lot of promise in his NHL stint last year (8 points in 15 games at nearly 14 minutes and was awesome in the AHL so no fluke in his progression) and has real deal playmaking upside at the next level. Just think he's in a rough spot to really shine in Columbus.

With Kadri and Backlund aging, Zary playing wing and Frost not exactly taking the next step - I think he could compete for real minutes in Calgary as soon as this fall. A lot of the best Calgary prospects are more natural at wing - Stromgren, Honzek, Suniev, Gridin, Battaglia, Basha, etc.

LDBB and the #20 as a starting point? That's kind of the "Hanifin+" return - a first plus something a lot better than Miromanov and a 3rd. Columbus keeps their own first this year and can roll Werenski-Fabbro and Mateychuk-Andersson with Severson as depth or a trade piece.

Also mentions he’s available now. As expected and good for the Flames.

Doesn’t the cost of acquiring a guy in this position of a contract negotiation usually go down? He’s a year out from UFA. He’s, at this point, a rental. If his contract demands are out of line for what he’s worth, the acquiring team could put themselves into a bad situation, hence the lowered cost to acquire.

Seravalli is a loser, nobody wants to talk to him anymore. Would be happy to never see that pompous prick's name on my screen again.

Ras is a great top 4D and deserves a big retirement deal. I wouldn't want to be the one to give it to him tho, especially with where the Flames are at roster wise.

Andersson is believed to be ready for a change.

There will be interest, post-Ekblad sweepstakes. So, gotta wait until Ekblad chooses his team before we get some serious calls regarding him.

Other posters have already told you other reasons why you’re very off, but another big factor is considering he’s a guy known for his 5v5 offense the fact that he had the 3rd worst 5v5 on ice shooting percentage in the league last year out of guys who played 500 minutes. That’s 214 names and his teammates finished at lower rates than every other defenseman other than two.

He was also -20 on the season strictly at 5v5, and -9 during that stretch with a broken leg. So once again, most of the season he played pretty well given the role he had.

I don’t think Calgary is in a position where they want to tie up term on a 30 year old, they are quietly rebuilding.

Rasmus’ camp clearly looked at the Chychrun deal and that’s what they want.

Just not a good match.

Flames already have Weegar as a top RHD (even though they play him on the left) signed long term and Parekh is coming up and will soon play in the top 4 as well and he plays right. Flames don't need Andersson long term for the right side and they especially don't need to pay him the $8+ mil he is going to get for 8 years. I don't think Conroy wants to go 8 years on anyone over 25 years old (he didn't sign Huberdeau or Weegar or Kadri).
