Other thread with VAN going after Lee came out a bit ahead of this but was planning on making this.

I am personally a fan and was wondering what the cost would be to make such a deal? I know NYI fans are generally pretty patient and may just want to wait and see if Lee can turn it around.

Some hesitation in acquiring him due to his production this year and the contract but hey, it's a forum and it's fun discussing :)

Would love the fit to be honest. I wouldn't be hesitant as the Leafs to acquire him but obviously it leaves some more playoff ready teams out of the equation. We have a plethora of forwards we could package for him, unfortunately that's probably not in Babs/Lou's plans. I think Lee will stay with the Islanders but you have to wonder if changes are imminent with the culture being in such disarray over there (In NYI).

NYI are a good team, but sometimes a bit of a shake up can help.

I am having a hard time coming up with a fit via trade so hoping for some insight from NYI fans.

Not impossible to obtain by any means, but we'd greatly prefer a RW. On Toronto's roster I either see guys we don't want (Lupul, Michalek) or guys you don't want to give up for Lee (Nylander, Marner). Difficult to find a 1-for-1 trade that leaves both teams happy.

Lee is available I think every islander fan would say that now the way the team is playing. but we need scoring. People on this forum had talked many times about our 2 teams. We need a guy like JVR to play with JT

He's listed as a centre in some places and a LW in others, does anyone know which he plays consistently...or if he's able to play both reliably?

Once the Cowen situation is resolved... (so we know we're not getting an additional contract back or lose cap space)

It might be easier.

Any interest in Kapanen? He's tearing it up in the AHL right now. Or do you want someone more proven?

Would you want a guy like Bozak and then shift Strome to wing or is he better at C?

Thanks for the nice dialogue :)

I don't want to move the conversation to a crazy place but honestly, JVR is our best trade chip by far, and if we were to move him (even if it meant overpaying and adding to JVR) we'd need to address the right side of our defense, and obviously that discussion moves to Pulock and I know you guys aren't moving him so it's kind of a dead end.

I don't mind expanding the deal for Lee to include JVR+Pulock if you think it is at all possible but I just don't want to derail the thread too much because I know you guys are high on Pulock.

I probably one of the few Islander fans who like Bozak, he's a right handed shot too, right?

But I don't think I'd move Lee for him. I also think Halak would be a good fit for your team. Salaries basically match.

Halak wouldn't be a good fit unfortunately, we're too invested in Andersen (5x5 contract) and Babcock plays his starter a LOT.

Why would Toronto move Bozak for Lee? Bozak is the better player.

And what is Toronto going to do with Halak? We have a starter and a back up.

I still can't figure out why the Leafs would want Lee? Unless you want a guy like Komarov in return. Swap 3rd line player for 3rd line player. Buy even that makes little sense fpr Toronto.

Lee is a pretty good player in his own right. I like him in front of the net, he's pretty much impossible to move.

No need to go into "So and so is better" - the thread will go nowhere fast.

I agree Lee for Bozak makes no sense. I just figured with Anderson out for a while. Halak makes sense. He has 2 year remaining just like Bozak as the same number. And in the off season and last year. Toronto tried moving Bozak hard with no success.

Andersen is 100% healthy.

I think the off-season prior to this one they shopped Bozak for a 2nd and had no success in moving him, likely because people thought his points came from Kessel. Bozak's production remained unchanged with Kessel being moved.

This most recent off-season we're not really sure if Bozak was ever really shopped.

oh my bad, not sure why I thought Anderson was out for a while. Wasn't it something about his family or wife?

Unless he suddenly plays defence tye Leafs don't need him. Guy is a 3rd liner. We have lots of guys in the system that can play on the 3rd line. Just sit tight. Leafs need Dman...not forwards.

Now if this were a Nick Leddy thread or Hamonic thread it would make sense.

I honestly don't see the Isles moving either of their top 2 Dman. Especially that both are signed for a while at a reasonable price.

When did the Leafs try hard to move Bozak? He is a decent 2nd/3rd line centre on a good contract. Good guy for the rebuild. Not too good....not too bad.

We'll agree to disagree.

Anderson is on Ottawa :) unfortunately his wife is going through cancer. Our own Andersen on Toronto is healthy.

All last year and in the off-season. After they moved Phaneuf, they started having a fire sale.
