Anders Lee:

- is signed through next year for 7M, so we're talking 3.5.
- seemed like he was on the decline after his knee injury, but seems to have been reinvigorated by a combination of Roy and an Adam Oates skating camp.
- is on pace for 270 shots this season, 30% more than his prime.
- has 3 points already today, putting him on a 25ish goal/60ish point pace.
- is a 6'3 230lb captain who has never gotten to the SC but went to the ECF twice.
- is a winger but he takes a lot of draws, and has a 47% career percentage at the dot.
- will fight
- runs a Kan Jam tournament to raise money for cancer research every summer on Long Island - they raise about 200k each year, which has lead to him winning the King Clancy award.
- has a 15 team no trade list.

Seems like an obvious fit for the Hughes line (and he wouldn't even necessarily have to move), but would hate to play against him so many times a year. Minnesota gets tossed around a lot because that's where he's from, and maybe that finally makes sense. Wondering what you all think his value is with the retention.

a lot of teams prioritize experienced high character players, and they tend to go for a premium at the alo

alot of people waste time bragging about their high school superlatives when they are in their 30's and it mostly don't matter anymore if you got voted "best buns"

not a lot of hockey fans waste time commenting on deadline trade acquistions when their team hasn't won a series in almost two decades but I guess you're a special breed

take away the king clancy line if you want, the other 8 lines are about him as a player. can't see the sabres being a player for the reason stated above (perennially being a bad hockey team) but feel free to shoot your shot

I'm not sure if the Knights would be interested, but Lee had great chemistry with Eichel at the WC's a few years ago and always thought if they could pair up in the NHL it would be a very good combo.

Despite his resurgence, on his own he’s still a salary dump.

Throw in some retention and you’ll get a middling return. Why bother? Ride the resurgence this year and let him age out of the contract. Flip him next year if the situation is similar and you’ll only having to retain salary for 1/2 a year.

On another note, teams rarely trade their captains.

I can’t see Minnesota being interested in Lee. Brock Nelson on the other hand, likely very much so.

Nelson would be a better fit for Vegas than Lee in my opinion.

I know Zuccarello is hurt, but Lee is a big upgrade on Foligno on their 2LW. Could probably find his way onto their top PP as well (I’m assuming JEE is their netfront guy).

Technically Johansson has been their 2nd line LW before after after their injuries right now but still, he’d be a big add and upgrade. Someone I think they will be significantly after if he is available and likely in summer if he makes it there. I think he makes a lot of sense on the Wild roster and gives them even more flexibility. With Guerin, seems like a guy he will covet and would offer a contract to that MN fans would not be comfortable with…

Foligno is a really good defensive winger, but he’s only on the 2nd line due to injuries.

I like Lee for Minnesota. More than Nelson due to cost. At 50% retention I’d be very interested and I think GMs would value him a lot more than HF posters. I think he’d be a perfect 3rd liner in the playoffs

Trouba is on the block… wasn’t Horvat captain of Vancouver? Feel like Giordano was the kraken captain, although that was probably only a year or two. It happens though.

As far as riding the resurgence - to what? He’s in his mid 30s and the isles could end up being a bottom 5 team this season. If you’re dealing Nelson and Palmieri there’s no reason not to be looking to deal Lee and Pageau as well

The whole point of the thread is to see if someone might offer something valuable if we traded him this year. 50 percent is a lot of retention, for two years, and I would say it’s only worthwhile if you can get a first rounder or a solid prospect out of it. So we’re seeing if someone would be interested in that. If not, just wait until next year sometime.

And I don’t think it matters that he’s captain. They should be thinking about the next guy anyway and Horvat could probably fit the bill.

Is it rare? In recent memory there was Horvat, Giroux, McDonough, Callahan and St. Louis in the same deal. Going back further, there are plenty more.

Horvat was looking to leave Vancouver. Trouba is dead weight. Lee is neither of those.

He could be dealt, don’t get me wrong but he’s still valued by the franchise and by his teammates which, along with his 15 team NTC, makes it less likely.

Lee looks like a completely different player this year. (In a good way ) last couple of yeses it looked like he was slowing down. Belie he started training with Adam Oats this offseason and it looks to be paying off. He looks faster and more like his old self. He’s also scoring goals Dr a good clip and that’s with his team having the worst PP.

Isles definitely need a re-tool and to get younger and get players to fit Roy’s system.

Lee Palmieri and Nelson should all be available.

....And Lee reaches the last year of his deal.
hasn't happened yet but trouble seems like he's about to move with a year left at a higher cap hit. stranger things have happened, and heads are going to fly when they lose to the sabres tonight (on the second game of a b2b missing both top line wingers, third line center, top pairing Ld and entire bottom pairing).that's going to be 7 out of the last 8 and 9 of their last 11.

It's not going to be Roy. It could be McLean... but it could also be the team leadership. Something's going to happen on Monday, whatever it is
