Where did you find the link since it's not on the front page? Either there was a hack, or they just wrote up the release if/when it becomes official and it got leaked

Where is Rosen? Hoven? Bernstein? Is this real? Did Wikileaks or 'The Russians' hack the site and do this? lol.
Story release 3:02 AM by 'LA KINGS' ?

And still no mention anywhere, about this supposed Oscar Fantenberg signing. Only
tweeted by the Mayor.

I am fine with Stevens...as long as they implement a more fluid offensive system,
which this article states they will do so.

I saw the link on another Kings message board. It looks like a real NHL.com link, so it could be one that someone somehow managed to find but that hasn't actually been published to the site yet. Or it could be an elaborate hack.

Why do people think Stevens is like a Sutter clone???? Was he a Sutter clone when he coach Philly?? I think Stevens deserves a shot to coach this team. Also it will be interesting to see who they bring in as an offensive assistant coach. I like the move and really looking forward to next year and seeing what the new coaching staff brings.

I like this move. The biggest concern I had with the Sutter firing was bringing in a coach that will open things up and have our defense just tank. Stevens has been a key part of our strong defense since Terry Murray days. If we can bring an offensive assistant that can figure out how to maximize our forwards' scoring then we will be much better but also defensively sound.

Deserves a shot. He's paid his dues. Got no problem with this.

interested to see who the assistants will be?

Kinda OT, but I haven't heard anything about Ranford, I'm assuming he's still with the organization? He's been a real asset. Would be unfortunate to see him leave.

I've always wondered about the intricacies of coaching relationships behind the bench, i.e. who takes care of the details of offense/defense and that sort of thing. Sure we have dedicated goalie and special teams guys, but I never got a firm understanding on how ideas are implemented on a game-to-game basis, and who's responsible for what.

I like Stevens, and he's earned the job, but I wonder if they are making the same loyalty mistake that this organization has been caught up in as of late. Obviously, Stevens is going to change up the system a bit, he knows that if he keeps things the same it would spell his early doom. It will be interesting to see how the locker room responds. Hopefully we get some good assistants behind the bench. That is almost more important than the head coach.

I'm good with this. Part of me always knew this might happen. Stevens must have showed something that has let him avoid the axe twice and avoid a coaching change, Kings let Jamie Kompon go and keep Stevens under Sutter, then when Sutter is fired Kings fire Payne and keep Stevens in the fold. He was really only Lombardi and Terry Murrays hire but has stayed under all these changes.

It's only natural to think things will stay the same when you hire internally, but you are correct, they were dynamic offensively in his two good seasons with Philly (6th in goals IIRC), while being middle of the pack (16th and 19th) defensively. I think most would agree that the Kings have the personnel to be better than that in their own zone, while being much better than they were last season offensively.

Looks like it was just in the can.

Looking forward to Stevens getting another opportunity to be a head coach. He deserves the opportunity. I think they've got the people who can run the system the way he wants to play, and there's going to be younger players with some actual talent who will get opportunities. I know no one here needs to rehash the trials of he Flyers while he was there, but he's a wiser man, he's got one of his guys in Carter who lived through that inmates-running-the-asylum and is now a wiser man for it. But there's enough guys in LA who have been-there-done-that that the atmosphere will remain pretty professional. I just think that if/when things go south, it'll probably happen pretty quickly, and Rob Blake can't wait too long to pull the trigger or else you'll lose a whole season.

I don't think Stevens will be as physically demanding as Sutter, which I think was what wore down the players long term, and became Sutter's undoing.
