Tough choice. I don't think either matchup will be easier. However, I do think we beat either team.

But I'd lean towards playing Anaheim instead. We just beat SJ last year and they will have home ice this year. Anaheim having home ice is not as big of a deal since so many Kings fans will present.

Also, I think the Sharks series will go longer and I also think SJ is going to be a more physical than the Ducks will be. Even if we beat SJ, we may not have much left in the tank, similar to last year.

Anaheim, just for the 1st time playoff series. Either series would be damn entertaining though.

Assuming we're going to need to beat both, I would prefer to play SJ first. SJ is the better team. I think we would need to be at full strength and healthy to beat them .

Ducks, would rather play the Sharks after Torres gets his annual play off suspension.

Would prefer Anaheim, but wouldn't make a huge difference. I'm confident against anyone besides the Blackhawks.

_ucks, I'd like to see the first 7 game home playoff series played by the Kings

I went with Anaheim, just because we match up well with them...

Question, if the Ducks remain the 1 seed, and both wild cards come out of the Central, then both wild card teams win their first round series (or just Anaheim loses their series), after the Kings kill the Sharks, who would they face in the second round? (a wild card team or does the league then re-seed?)

sorry for the long, run-on sentence

My understanding is that the wild cards become part of the bracket. I.e. if the Wild (who then become part of the pacific bracket) played the Ducks and won and Dallas played St. Lou and won, We'd play the Wild and the Hawks or wahtever would play dallas.

Correct.

This new playoff protocol ensures that the conference finals would be the winner of the Pacific bracket vs. the winner of the Central bracket, and the winner of the Atlantic bracket vs. the winner of the Metropolitan bracket. Given that the wild cards SHOULD be eliminated before the conference finals, then this would ensure a top team from the Pacific plays a top team from the Central, and a top team from the Atlantic plays a top team from Metropolitan.

Of course, if a wild card wins a couple of series, the best-made plans are laid to rest.

What happens if San Jose losses some players in round one against lets say dallas though?

At this point I don't really care, the Kings have a tough road regardless of who they get.

So many good teams in the playoff's.

It is incredible, isn't it? Just look at the West. There are SIX teams all deserving, IMO, to win the Stanley Cup, and I won't have a problem with ANY of these teams winning it.

LAK
STL
COL
CHI
ANA
SJS

Thanks for the answer. That's what I figured, but you never know with how often rules seem to change.

Then the rules would have to change again......

The league is doing the right thing. They know if they send four team from each division then a fifth-place team from one division might have a much better record and be left out...hence, the two wild-card system rather than a straight-up top four.

Then again, you have a crappy Eastern Conference, so there is that. But you have to draw the line somewhere...I think taking the top 16 in the league would be the purest playoff format, but then someone would argue that the teams don't play each other enough (because of the travel nightmare that would cause).
