The Ducks are sorely lacking for grit and toughness after moving away Manson and Deslauriers. Ideally we could bring in some cheaper and perhaps younger replacements to provide deterrence from taking runs at Zegras/Terry/Drysdale etc.

Are there any heavyweights who haven't had their shot in the NHL yet but deserve one? Does your team have a scrappy young player buried on the depth chart who you think would make the most of a better opportunity?

Most likely not for sale but Tanner Jeannot would be very interesting.

Kurtis Gabriel.

I'm not sure how much he's improved on his skating but if you want a deterrent, he's your guy.

Just don't expect him to do too much.

If the cost was minimal (contract swap basically) then I could see it. We have solid 4th liners to carry the bulk of the hockey duties and need someone to cancel out any goonery that may come along. Sam Carrick is willing to go anyone but he's more of a middleweight, and we don't need to see Getzlaf running around playing enforcer.

He's on an expiring contract at $750K with the IceHogs, Chicago's affiliate.

Ducks could just sign him in the off season without shelling out any assets.

Yeah I'm more talking about getting someone in there today for the rest of this year. The lineup is just too soft, have to keep these talented young players insulated.

After trying to come back too early from covid, and some time off for new baby at home, Nemeth is looking good. Value is a 4th, want a 3rd for Nemeth + our other 4th.

Gives you what OP asked for and helps NY w/future cap while creating a space for Jones, NIls L, etc.

If I remember we still have Tinordi, he's yours for free [conditional 7th].

McKegg is not really an enforcer but he's not a creampuff. Want to create a roster spot. McK + 6th for a 5th, something like that?

Hunt similar but is more skilled player want a little somethin somethin, like a mid pick/pick upgrade

Contract swap for Tinordi could probably work, Ducks send one of their AHL depth guys like Pateryn.

Similar sort of deal with Chicago for Gabriel would be a fit as well.

Tinordi is obv. Hoping to move McKegg for cheap to get roster spot. No interest at all, even cheap?

Ducks might just roll with Sam Carrick and Buddy Robinson for the rest of the season.

They also could give Hunter Drew a cup of coffee.

There's a guy with grit, who grew up cracking skulls on the mean streets of Staten Island. So nice, err "tough", they named him thrice: 1. Zach 2. Aston 3. Reese.

Better yet, he's a UFA this summer. So if you can outbid Mike Sullivan (who might forgo his salary to make sure ZAR gets re-signed) then he can be yours for nothing.

Given what you'd expect given his size, Robinson is not particularly physical.

Zach Aston-Reese is 8th in the league in hits.

A first or second should do it.

I don’t see why Anaheim needs grit now with roughly 22 games remaining. Just call up someone from the AHL to fill that role. And find it in the off season.
