Anaheim Ducks see largest local viewership increase in NHL this season after moving to free streaming platform

Sounds better I'll look into it start of next season, similar price?
It’s $119 a month for the highest package. You can buy slim boxes to go to each tv with a remote (with numbers) or just watch thru app. I set up boxes on every tv at my parents house so they could drop their cable

It’s good on the face of it but (granted I’m not investigating myself because I’m lazy) what are the raw numbers. If the baseline was 100 people it’s significantly less impressive that in it were 500k people. I agree with the general premise of free streaming being beneficial for all. but the percentages increase is only part of the data.

NHL needs to move to a system with a 10-15 dollar monthly subscription to watch every match by every league, with no blackouts. No one will buy cable packages if they're under the age of like, 60 years of age. I haven't even owned a TV for a decade.

Please try to convince me that platforms like Netflix and Spotify don't make money, though.

Kind of need to see the raw numbers and not just % of increase. 100 viewers to 200 viewers when presented as only a % seems impressive but as raw data it’s still only 200 viewers.
It’s great the Ducks are getting more people watching. I’m just curious how many more exactly?

Good to see it working. I grew up 90 miles from Chicago and it’s hard to become a fan of your “local” team if they are never on tv due to idiots like Dollar Bill Wirtz.

I think it’s a good time to be a Ducks fan. Young kids starting to show their potential and Verbeek is adamant about making the playoffs so hopefully he is aggressive this summer. Firing Cronin was the first huge step.

Plus have the OCVibe project which is going to be huge for them with Disneyland 5 mins down the street.

I went to a few games first week of April and its always an amazing experience. There is just something different and special about Ducks games, the fans, the Arena, the culture, and etc, compared to going to Rangers games.

Good for the Ducks. For a league that's been desperately trying to grow they're really shooting themselves in the foot. It's too much of a pain to stream games now and when you do you're subjected to moving ads on the boards, ads on the side board glass, ads on the glass behind the net, ads on the four corners of the rink, ads superimposed near the points on the ice, ads on the helmets, ads on the jerseys, ads on the projected scoreboard, ads sponsoring overtimes, etc. It's downright embarrassing.

Rodney's joke of I watched a fight and a hockey game broke up today would be updated to I watched an infomercial and a hockey game broke out.
