Our 4th line is pretty good for their role.
Really? I thought Staal, Staal and Lindholm looked terrible last game.

we called a timeout and then put ron hainsey and chris terry on the ice with the goalie pulled
I was watching the Duck's feed and early in the third, when the Canes were down by a goal, the announcers said "I expect the Canes take a page out of the Ducks' book, get aggressive on the forecheck and really try to get this game tied" (or something to that effect). Then after a couple of shifts they were surprised and commented that the Canes were just dropping back after the Ducks get the puck and barely forechecking.
Is it telling that Versteeg has fallen off after a strong start? Seems that he came from a winning culture and has slowly adjusted to the Staal's country club. Maybe it's just my imagination.
Granted, it's only 18 games so projections can change drastically with a single game, but right now, they are on pace (record/points wise) to be the 2nd worst Carolina Hurricanes team in history (02/03 team had 61 points, this team is on pace for 63-64). Combine that with last year (which was the 2nd worst team in history already), and and it would be the worst 2 year stretch in team history. We are approaching historical levels of suckiness right now.
There's really no reason Lack should be performing as poorly as he has. Nor Ward, really. Even "dried up husk" Ward could stop 19 shots a night with no issue. And Lack was performing great in Vancouver.
Did we get a new goalie coach this year?
If Wardo got his quota of at least 1 injury in this year, we could really tank. Eddie Lack starting every night is a scary thought/good thing if you want high pick.
I hope Lack turns out to be better than this.
I like him and want him to do well -- but man, he's been brutal so far.

I think it's sportingcharts.com or something similar. What is the website that shows the graph of shot location for each team during the game (and for the season)? I recall some posting those graphs previously, but can't remember the website.
No. I think Marcoux was new last year though, and if that's the case, he sure did a number on Khudobin and now Lack, didn't he?
David Marcoux
Goaltending CoachDavid Marcoux
David Marcoux is in his second season with the Carolina Hurricanes as goaltending coach, and has more than 25 years of experience working with goaltenders at all levels of hockey.
Marcoux spent six years as the goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames between 2003 and 2009, helping Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff become a Vezina Trophy and Williams Jennings Trophy winner, as well as a Hart Trophy finalist in 2005-06. The Flames originally acquired Kiprusoff in November 2003 from San Jose, where he was competing for the backup goaltender position.
Working with Marcoux and the Flames, Kiprusoff became a Vezina Trophy finalist that same season, leading the Flames to the Western Conference championship. In addition to Kiprusoff, Marcoux’s time with the Flames included experience working with current Hurricanes netminder Cam Ward, as the Hurricanes and Flames shared the AHL affiliate Lowell Lock Monsters during the 2004-05 NHL work stoppage.
Prior to joining Calgary, Marcoux spent the previous 12 years guiding netminders at a sports academy (Profil Hockey Cap-Jeunesse) in St-Jerome, Que. He also held the goaltender coach position for the Hull Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 1997-2001, helping Hull twice reach the league finals.
A graduate of the University of Sherbrooke with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physical Education), Marcoux earned a Masters from the University of Montreal in 1997. Most recently, Marcoux has run his own goaltending camps (dmsg.ca) in Sherbrooke, Que., Hawkesbury, Ont., and Calgary, and has worked as a goaltending consultant for Hockey Canada.
Correct, this is Marcoux's second season with us. Prior to that, he was with the Flames for 6 years, including their Cup run and for Kiprusoff's Vezina and Jennings runs.
shocking to me that this organization hired someone whose last great success came in 05-06.

Hey now, leave Brind'Amour, Stillman, and Wesley alone.
The third goal last night, the wraparound, was a goal that should be stopped 100% of the time. There's no excuse for that one to go in, it's entirely on Lack. The only reason I can come up with is that he's not mentally sharp enough right now.
