Lots of talk about people needing to be moved on the boards, so thought this deal might be interesting.

Three way deal with a basis of

JVR to Anaheim
Fowler (or Gardiner, in which case Fowler goes to Toronto) + [email protected] to Winnipeg
Trouba to Toronto

Thoughts? Who adds how much?
IMO it makes sense as Winnipeg wants a LHD, Anaheim wants a big winger on a cheapish deal, and Toronto wants a RHD.

Edit: If Winny prefers Gardiner, the Leafs replace him with Fowler.
Maybe add stoner to Toronto and Greening to Anaheim? Saves them 600k.

Leafs are giving up Gardiner and JVR for Trouba? Lol no

Toronto might want a RHD but not at the cost of our #3D and #1 LW

Deal makes sense conceptually. Leafs are giving too much, jets need to add

In this instance, they would be getting Fowler to replace Gardiner. Sorry, should have been more specific.

0% chance Leafs give up both Gardiner and JVR for Trouba

Gardiner is probably better than Trouba right now, and we add in a top end LW?

Yeah odds that the Leafs could land both Fowler and Trouba both are slim to none. And if Leaf fans think that Trouba will accept the same pay as Rielly are going to be sorely disappointed. You're looking at $5.5 million to $6 million per he would only take less to come home to Detroit according to Dreger.

Well, in this instance the Leafs are (in this deal) giving up Gardiner, Polak@50% and JVR for Trouba (contract hold out, asked for trade) and Fowler.

Bottom line is JVR for Fowler doesn't work cap wise for Anaheim, Pretty sure that Bob Murray would do a Spooner deal from Boston for Fowler then JVR any day seeing that he has to shed salary big time to fit both Rakell and Lindholm in.

Pass. Still don't think Fowler for JVR is worth us considering, and obviously it doesn't work well for Anaheim's quest for cap space.

Leafs would have to retain, then Ducks would have to add to pay for the retention, but yeah then both teams prefer other options

Uhhhh ....... no. Just no. I could see doing something around Gardiner because he fits our need but they are not on the same level.

He is not going to be making more money than Risto, Rielly, and Jones.

Fowler - Zero interest

Gardiner - Good basis for a trade, something could be worked out IMO

In most treads TML fans treat JVR as a cap dump they'd be elated to be rid of. :)

I don't know which threads those are, but it's almost the exact opposite. He's just the most valuable piece we have which we would actually realistically part with. If we look for a bigger piece like a Trouba, he's the type of guy with the value to get him and is not essential to the team in the long term.

JVR doesn't get you Fowler let alone Trouba

ahh false?

if the ducks had the space they would easily do a jvr swap straight up.
has been agreed upon many times before.

dont let your bias cloud your judgement

This probably works better.

Ana: JVR
Tor: Fowler, Stoner, 2nd rd pick (the cost of taking on Stoners 3.25 for 2 years)

Anaheim sheds 3 mil and gets a top 6 LW, leafs get a top 4 dman and a pick

OR

WPG: Gardiner, choice of Kapanen,Leipsic,Soshnikov,Bracco, Johnson
TOR: Trouba

Jets get a top 4 LHD and good prospect, while removing a distraction, leafs get a top 4 RHD to balance out the top 4

I'd probably take it, but only if we agreed to a contract with Lindholm first. Fowler is vital to our blueline right now since Lindholm is holding out for Ekblad money :)rant:), but once (or if:help:) Lindholm signs I wouldn't be opposed to it.

As for the OP, in a nutshell, it's not bad, but JVR for Fowler does nothing to help our cap situation.

It has never been suggested that he's holding out for Ekblad money.
