I have the feeling ZAR carries more value. Wasn't he a key player on their defensive match up 3rd line last season?

Des has averaged 14 seconds of PK time over the past 3 seasons and 10 mins of ice time. He is clearly a 4th liner. ZAR has averaged almost 2 min a night ion the PK, and close to 15 minutes of ice time. I understand that 4th liners are beloved by fan bases, especially guys that scrap and stick up for team mates. You switch the roles and ask Des to play an extra 4 minutes a night with defensive match ups and I think his weaknesses would be exposed. Not a Pitt or Ducks guy, so no skin in the game, just an outsiders observations.

I think the purpose would be to get a more physical element on our 4th line despite the fact ZAR is one of the leaders in the league in hits.

Ducks pass on this. They’ve moved Des up to the 2nd/3rd line to protect Zegras the last few games.

No, you need to overpay for Des if you want him, he fits a role on this team no one else can and there's no reason to move him for market value.

No thanks, the team already has an issue with cheap shots no need to get rid of our best fighter. I don’t care if he’s a 4th liner either and Zar is better, Des brings something that a lot of teams need and want. Which is why you want him

Ducks haven't been the "big bad Ducks" in a while. Over the last several years, they've been the victim of significantly more cheap shots than throwing them. There's been 2 already this season against young Ducks players (Zegras and Lundestrom)?

He's been gone a couple years, and even before that he wasn't the same player. I don't remember him doing anything remotely controversial for the last year or two he was here. Since the Pronger days, the Ducks have definitely been more on the receiving end, especially from a couple select teams.
I'd rather deal ZAR for picks or as salary filler on a 4 million D for forward trade.
But lord is it funny to be like 'we need this enforcer because teams are cheap shotting our young guys' like was he injured during those games or was he dressed and having this dude on your bench didn't effect the other teams thought process or actions at all lmao.

Well ZAR isn’t exactly something we want or need…. Des fills a role … he hits, he’ll make people answer for hits if needed. He’s killed penalties for us a bit this year. And he’s a great character/locker room guy.
Why do you want him then ? Seems like you and others always downplay other teams players and act like they’re bums. Seriously get over yourselves
