Proposal: ANA-OTT

That's fair! I'm misinformed then.

Well not a lot of people watch the Ducks, so understandable. To be honest, they've been a tough watch for their own fans in recent years. But in his case the positional splits are important.

Now, if those last 30 some odd games are real and he's able to produce at around 60 points at LW, then so be it and maybe he does stay at wing. But there's enough teams out there lacking scoring up the middle that you'd think someone would think they could make better use of him than the Ducks have.

If it were me though, I'd keep him at C and try to build a top 9. The other thing is, in that last stretch he was on McTavish's wing instead of Carlsson's, and they may just be a better fit together.

The Ducks shouldn’t be trading anyone until they get a shot under a new coach.
I think Verbeek will be trading people to help the new coach he brings in. Who will he trade? No idea but he isn't going to sit on his hands until October waiting for the new coach to work some magic. Prepare accordingly.

To be honest I actually think this is a very fair and interesting deal as a Sens fan.

What might fly by over OTT fans heads when evaluating this is realizing that Zegras would still be an RFA at the end of next season when his current contract expires. Batherson is a UFA in 2 years.

Zegras as a U21 and U22 player put up 60+ point seasons on putrid teams and has extremely elite skill. Could honestly be an 80-100 point player in the right situation. Also it seams he's improved his two-way play according to Ducks fans.

Batherson is still very valuable considering his contract, his skill and his physicality but I would definitely not dissapointed if this trade happened IRL.

Zegras can wither play 2LW or play 2C and we move Cozens to RW which he did for a bit in BUF.

This would be a "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" move for the Sens, at best, with a whole lot of room for this to blow up in our faces. The Sens aren't at the stage where all they have to do is fiddle with a few of the different parts; we need to add to the roster. We still need to build.

At the end of the day, it's a move that can maybe plug some theoretical hole in the roster... by outright making a new one.

If the Sens are annoyed about Batherson's poor defensive play and inability to score at the business end of the season why would they trade for Trevor Zegras, a guy who if everything works out seems like he would be exactly ... Drake Batherson

I agree with everyone here saying none of our young players should be traded until we see them under a new coach. I have no interest in selling low on our players due to Cronin's shitty coaching.

Ducks shouldn't move any high potential player before seeing what happens next season, including Zegras.

Not a bad proposal in any way though.

Drake Batherson had more than double Zegras' points this year. He's on the cheaper contract. He's 6ft3, 200 lbs to Zegras' 6ft0 185 lbs. He's a RWer, which is more valuable than a LWer. Batherson trains with Sidney Crosby every single offseason, while Zegras has been trade bait for, what, three seasons now? For supposed attitude issues?

What are we doing here boys?
You can dislike the trade. Fine with me it’s your opinion, but there is no supposed attitude issues. It’s never been said by anyone of note and even Cronin and him got along even though Cronin was extremely hard on him. I’ve never seen anyone call him a bad teammate. He’s had his struggles with injuries and a tough start to the season but it’s not attitude problems.
