He grew up in worse temperatures.I dunno, after this past month he might want to enjoy temperatures above freezing.

Have we not learned our lesson about trading defensemen before we know who they are?100% we have a logjam but i think the front office wants to retain/load up as opposed to selling off vets like we have seen the last 4-5 years.
My new opinion is to trade one of the high value D (Zelly likely) for a difference making F.
What are you adding? Because the ducks fans (and I think Verbeek) would expect a pretty significant add. Gibson's presence is helpful - he's been the starter and played well (albeit Dostal plays a decent amount). If we're dealing with Anaheim, and if Arvidsson is willing to waive to go there, I'd prefer to do something around Gibson, as long as Kane isn't going to be ready and we can use his 5M cap space for bringing in these two. Gibson and Dumoulin for Arvidsson and a collection of picks and prospects would be something that should interest Edmonton because it improves us now on the blueline and in goal for the playoffs, and it should interest Anaheim as it would give them some good assets for the future, and a winger that can likely contribute now, and be flipped a year from now. Unless they feel Gibson's presence is too important to Dostal's development, or Dumoulin's presence is too important for the development of their young defensemen of course.
THIS - Ducks fans need to recalibrate their mindset. Its not 2020 - 2024 anymore. We could very likely hang onto these cheap vets as we push for the playoffs. We also need these vets around to mentor the kids.
Futures, but I didn't specify what I would add, because I've had that conversation a few times here, and it feels that Duck fans want more for Gibson than I feel he should be worth, so I'll just leave it at that. What I would give doesn't really matter, I'm not a GM, ha ha.What are you adding? Because the ducks fans (and I think Verbeek) would expect a pretty significant add. I suppose I should have said not many improve. No
None of those guys are struggling, which was the point of the post I was responding to.
Anaheim has more "futures" than it can use. They need "nows".Futures, but I didn't specify what I would add, because I've had that conversation a few times here, and it feels that Duck fans want more for Gibson than I feel he should be worth, so I'll just leave it at that. Sure, but futures can help to buy "nows". You stock up with futures at the deadline, and use them to trade for "nows" at the draft and over the summer. It's about having assets to spend while still maintaining the direction of their rebuild. Especially when you have one asset that could have value, but likely only to teams selling futures. I don't see any teams with an excess of "now" assets lining up for a starting goalie, but there are a couple of contenders who could use the upgrade in net that have the type of assets you can use to help bolster next years lineup in the offseason. I think a move of Gibson to Edmonton or Carolina actually makes a lot of sense for the Ducks. 1st round picks are never bad to have.Anaheim has more "futures" than it can use. They need "nows".
So say Zelly doesn't pan out, his value is significantly lower. this is the game you have to play. At this particular time, we need forward help.Have we not learned our lesson about trading defensemen before we know who they are?
At this particular time, teams are adding currently contributing guys for futures to facilitate deeper playoff runs. Any discourse about using our young guys to add significant pieces for immediate help is realistically reserved until the draft, at the earliest. So say Zelly doesn't pan out, his value is significantly lower. this is the game you have to play. Canada is cold, we get it. Kinda odd to make it the central argument for athletes that you know, grew up playing on ice.I dunno, after this past month he might want to enjoy temperatures above freezing.
If you weren't here you can't know what I am talking about.
PV and Cronin have repeatedly said we are competing for the playoffs this year. That alone qualifies the Ducks as a team that can pounce for a significant forward piece if available. The draft is more realistic but if the opportunity presents itself at the deadline, PV should be IN.At this particular time, teams are adding currently contributing guys for futures to facilitate deeper playoff runs. That's where my head is at - it has to be a game changing, difference making forward. And if it turns out to be another Theodore?
It's different if he is moved in a package for a legit top line forward, but unless that's the case there is no reason to trade him until we know who he is.
When was the last time you heard him say this? He wants the team to move towards challenging - he should -, but he’s not a complete fool (at least not that type). It’s not happening this season, and teams acquiring players right now are primarily paying for the services they get from them over the next few months. If there’s a guy with 2+ years of term available, sure, he should check things out, but that’s mostly not the reality of what happens this week, for those reasons.PV and Cronin have repeatedly said we are competing for the playoffs this year. I don’t have the time nor the crayons to tell you why that logic is extremely flawedSince the Oilers have everyone in their top nine with some sort of trade protection (with the exception of Perry) it would take an enticing location, like California, for one or more of these outstanding players to waive NTCs and NMCs.
With that in mind...
Brian Dumoulin (LHD) $3.15 Million AAV Pending UFA
Viktor Ardvisson (LW) $4 Million AAV
2nd Round Pick 2025
Conditional 4th round pick (depending on how far the Oilers make it in the playoffs, pick gets bumped)
I think it would take a sunny destination for Ardvisson to waive his NMC, so Anaheim fits the bill. Of course posters on here will rant and rave about the Oilers needing to add a 1st to move him and all that but realistically Ardvisson is probably worth a 4th in a real world trade.
Dumoulin kills penalties and has been a great veteran presence on the Ducks blueline. However, his presence has blocked the playing time of talented, younger players like Pavel Mintyukov and Olen Zellweger. One or the other usually gets scratched as a result. The Oilers are rumored to be looking for this kind of player.
Dumoulin loves it in Anaheim but maybe he signs with Edmonton after winning a cup, and also after missing our annual February cold snap and thus not understanding the haunted look in Edmonton fans eyes in early March.
Sounds like you know nothing about SoCal. The fire areas you’re referring to are just a very small part of SoCal. And the weather is not very hot. On average, the summer months are in the mid 80’s.Canada is cold, we get it. Kinda odd to make it the central argument for athletes that you know, grew up playing on ice.
The Sunbelt is nice one in a while, and you get that plenty, travelling all the time, but you would have to pay me to have my main residence in permanent forest fire oven bake hell hole.
Jeff Jackson must have studied under Ken Holland.
Would you say Emberson is playing better or just what he should be?
For me it would be neutral.
Kulack in his 4th year is arguably playing his best I guess. But I wouldn't say he is doing amazing.
Alright I might have to get 2 minutes for embellishments, added a bit too much to the story telling.Sounds like you know nothing about SoCal. The fire areas you’re referring to are just a very small part of SoCal. And the weather is not very hot. On average, the summer months are in the mid 80’s.
