I do think there are trades to be made with Calgary...
but most would deal with us taking on Lucic or Monohan...

Comtois is coming off an awful season. Hanifin is getting better and better and looks to be a solid #2-3 at 25 years old. Hanifin is also signed on a massive discount for 2 more years. He's exactly the kind of player with exactly the kind of contract you need to win a championship. Comtois had 12 points, and is beginning to look like a reclamation project.

If you dig into the numbers Hanifin has actually been an elite defenseman for 2 years now. Before that he was really a #4. Somehow he always got listed as a 2/3 when we was a 4 before and still does when he's a top 10 driver leaguewide.

Much much closer. If Zegras was 2 years older, and hadn't developed (IE remained a 60-70 point centre), it would be a 1 for 1 swap. Obviously, Zegras still has potential to be a PPG+ centre, which is why the Hanifin/Zegras deal is unfair. Meanwhile, the Hanifin/Comtois deal is just laughably absurd.
Monahan to Anaheim makes a lot of sense to me, and I actually think the ducks could get Calgary to pay to take him and he would provide value there.

Yep they need the money…. To keep the team together.
I think ducks need a guy to protect their young team so lucic is appealing, and Monahan makes sense as a vet on the roster assuming we arnt paying for him with assets

Everyone agrees hanafin for comtois is awful…. No need to make the thread even more obnoxious by mentioning zegras w/ hanfin.
Zegras is a young premier player in the league, and may be 1 of the most marketable players in the league going forward…. You’d get laughed at harder making that thread than this comtois hanafin thread, don’t be rediculous

With his hips who knows what he will be like next year, but I think he could be pretty decent and help fill the void of Getzlaf.

They should take that and run. Dropping ~45 spots in the draft is a very small price to drop that contract.
