Proposal: ANA-BUF

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Mason McTavish for Bowen Byram as a base. Adds on either side to make up the difference.

Both upcoming RFAs. Seems like ANA has the centre depth to make up for McTavish’s departure (Carlsson, Zegras, Strome). Buffalo gets a C to push either one of Thompson or Cozens to the Wing.

Notably, both teams may own high draft picks this draft and can replenish their depth. McQueen may be available when ANA picks and Mrtka when BUF picks.

Regardless of LD or RD, the ducks don't need more D-men. They need more top forwards, so trading McTavish for a D makes no sense in less its a top 10 in the league type of D-man.

Dont think it makes much sense for Anaheim.

On left side we have Mintyukov, Zellweger, Lacombe... with guys like Hinds and Solberg coming.


Only way i see us moving McTavish is part of a package for a bigger piece... I also imagine were prob very high on Mrtka and likely 1 of our main targets at the draft.

As has been quite well pointed out, the last thing the Ducks need to do is trade away a forward & bring in a Dman. Perhaps if the players were on the other teams & the trade put them right where they are now a discussion could be had. But there's no reason for Anaheim to even think about it for more than a couple of seconds.

If the Ducks are high on Mrtka, could you see something like McTavish for the Rangers ‘25 1st from the Pens as a base? Should put them right around there, possibly better in ‘26?

No, Ducks don't need picks. McTavish isn't getting traded for futures. He is a future himself. Also I just fully disagree trading him at all.

Ducks need at least 1 more top 6 forward. The only forwards (aside from 4th liners) Ducks should be trading aren't the ones you want... Killorn and maybe Strome can go. Killorn mainly because that's the only way Cronin won't put him with Carlsson.
