An open letter to Dan Beckerman and AEG

I think AEG is going to give these clowns another year and that’s it. The tear down won’t happen until this time next year.
I hope youre wrong. If they do give them another year, they will get destroyed by the fans... the cynicism will be off the charts - which it already is on this forum.. it will go mainstream

Maybe it will go mainstream, but again the Kings live in their own bubble. Hockey world has largely laughed at them last night but have moved on already.

We’ll have to see if there’s any pushback on the narratives and if there’s even an end of season presser.

I cant imagine the spin - but it will be fascinating to hear it if they indeed kick the can down the road for another year.

The spin will be they snapped Draisaitl’s point streak last night and they mostly contained him and McDavid in 3 out of the 6 games. So that means we just gotta tighten up the D in the other games, dial up the integrity, passion, and family, and we’re right there.

No - thats not quite orwellian enough - it will have to be completely detached from anything real

Whatever is said in the presser, it's going to be fascinating.

It's going to take a world class spin that would make even an American politician squirm if they aren't announcing major changes to front office and coaching personel.

If the clowns in the front office and Hiller are still here next week, I may seriously think about switching over to the Ducks. Been a fan since '93 and I'm fed up with these losers. You hear that, Beckerman?

Don't wait. Have some balls and integrity, do it NOW.

Luc Robitaille joined the Kings as a rookie at the beginning of the 1986-87 season. That is almost 40 years ago. Time for him to move on.

I thought it was time for Lombardi and Sutter to go, as I questioned whether their vision for an NHL team was what you were looking for in the coming decade. Lombardi had a three year run between June 2014 and April 2017 that was as bad as any we have seen from a Kings GM. As well as his awful roster construction of the 2016 USA World Cup team showed an ignorance or stubbornness to a changing league.

But, I didn't expect us to hire people who had a vision to take the on-ice product back to 1997 when everyone else was doing the opposite, were going to hire unqualified cronies like Glen Murray to run a prospect development system that is like none anywhere else in the league, were going to try and contend again led by a core that was mostly drafted by Dave Taylor and were going to to turn the teams media situation into one of the most f'ed up for any major sports team in North America, I would have much preferred to stay with those guys. I'd rather be stuck in 2009 than have an on-ice product stuck in 1999 and a management team about as transparent to the media and fans as the Soviet Union under Stalin.

But I can see the usual suspect(s) is here criticizing the people that are ready to throw in the towel, instead of asking why fans who have supported the team for decades may want to throw in the towel. But I guess when you think the Kings had a historic season worthy of celebration it's tough to imagine how anyone could be angry about it.

I was onboard with a change from Sutter (it was time)....was NOT happy with losing Lombardi, especially to Blake. Wasn't a fan of Blake to begin with, didn't like the fact that he had zero years of experience as GM, etc.

Took a few years for me to warm up to what Blake was doing, PLD was a massive swing that missed bad. Thought he recovered well this year, and we might be a couple of coaching snafus away from preparing for 2nd round.

But eight years later a huge fan, despite zero playoff series wins, zero division championships and zero star players developed to the NHL roster.

No wonder all the kids get straight A's in school now.
Who's a huge fan? Me? I'd gladly welcome someone new....however I think Luc is more of the issue, Blake next....Hiller last.

I'll let AI take this one.

When someone says a person put on a "master class performance" they mean that the performance was so exceptionally good that it could serve as a lesson or example for others—like a master teaching a class. It's a high compliment, suggesting the person displayed expert-level skill, control, and excellence in whatever they were doing (e.g., acting, sports, music, etc.).

I think ti's cute that anyone even thinks there will be a presser.

When Lombardi was fired you famously said

By the standard bolded above,
The Robitaille and Blake era has an abject failure. They squandered what was at one time the best prospect pipeline in the league. They hired their friends and most are doing a far below average job. Our prospect development , especially for forwards, is well below league average. But they thought were right there" last offseason as each playoff series loss to Edmonton was progressively worse. Lombardi started with a far worse team and won a cup in his sixth season, went to the conference finals the next season, and won another cup the year after that. Blake's teams can't even get out of the first round.

The organization reverted to the same old pre-Lombardi Kings. The organization forgot every lesson that Lombardi taught it about character and there was no better example of that than the Dubois trade. They ignored every red flag and then were surprised when what everyone else knew was going to happen, happened. And we are right back in to tbe black hole.

Let's compare the Rob Blake era to Vegas

The Kings
View attachment 1028118
24-25 Lost in first round

Vegas
View attachment 1028121
View attachment 1028122
24-25 Won in first round

Same tenure-
Rob 0 playff series win
Vegas- 10 series wins and a cup

Vegas is winning and Rob turned us in to the Sharks

One can best define the current management with the words arrogance and nepotism.
It's time to clean house from Robitaille down. It's time to end the old boys club.
Our amateur scouting and goalie coaches should be the only ones spared. Yeah Luc was one of our favorite players , but Luc the executive is one of the worst in tean history. Bring in some fresh blood and an outsider. Look what happened last time the Kings did it.
This has been 8/9 years. We went from the beat prospect pool to one of the worst , we have acquired several solid players with some of those picks, others have mismanaged or poorly developed. They have tried to make skill players play in an archaic system that is not conducive to those skill sets and is not todays game. Mark Yannetti has done a fantastic job in drafting, but the issues are once they Are drafted and the development staff gets hold of them and have to adhere to the upper management philosophy.

That is where the problems begin, this philosophy was fine in 1995 not in todays game.
The bottom line it is not about the regular season anymore, it's about playoffs and has been for at least 3 years. This regime has failed to deliver., dont let yourself get fooled by a wink and a smile and keep getting told we're close. That bs just watch how the really successful teams play and are coached. It's been too long with this management group, it's time to bring in a consultant outside the organization to make the changes needed for the La Kings and their fans..

The Kings have had eight drafts under Rob Blake.

The most successful picks as far as "value", "ROI", "Bang for the buck" or whatever term you want to use have been Brock Faber, Mikey Anderson and Alex Laferriere.

All three played college hockey and were out of the Kings development control.

One played zero AHL games and spent no time "Working with Muzz"

One played 4 AHL games at the end of his college season and made the NHL right away in his first camp.

One played 50 games in the AHL and was an NHL player by the end of his age 20 season.

Now compare that to much higher drafted players, who spent tons of time in the AHL and "working with Muzz" and tell me how their ROI compares?

I'm sure it's just coincidental though.

My opinion is that if the players that they drafted in those 8 years especially the higher end picks were drafted to different teams and their development group and were not forced to play a style that did not suit them in the first place, I believe they would have had a better chance of success ..

I thought it was Sutter's time to go especially. Coaches like him are fantastic, but they have a short shelf life due to hiw they push players in wars of attrition.

With Lombardi's post-cup scrambles to build a winning team, I was also okay with Lombardi being let go. It was just sniffing like DT's final years.

But I wasn't a fan of Blake and Luc swooping in. I didn't like the lack of vision and direction from the start. I didn't like how they still thought they were one piece away after being swept by Vegas. I didn't like the Willie D coaching hire.

They finally seemed to start getting it in December of 2018.

But then they rushed out of a rebuild after the 2021 draft, before any of their pieces became part of a new core (aside from Mikey Anderson).

It's been a regime of shortcuts and half measures.

This was my letter to him in the offseason. I will be doing a follow up, but I want to wait and see what happens first.
What are the chances you can post Beckerman's email? Some on the reddit are wondering where to send their complaints to regarding Blake and Hiller being retained.

A search of my own turned up nothing.
