An open letter to Dan Beckerman and AEG

I'm not convinced the AEG doesn't care. I think ownership wants to win.

I think they're patient. They only make make changes to the front office once per decade.

This was my letter to him in the offseason. I will be doing a follow up, but I want to wait and see what happens first.
Kings are definitely stuck with Hiller and Blake for another year. Probably not gonna change anything for Kopi's retirement tour.

The Beckerman/Lieweke position seems to set the tone for the whole franchise.

Everything Beckerman has touched with AEG winds up being safe and mediocre and designed purely to provide a stable profit projection on quarterly reports.

It's one of our history's worst eras to be a Kings fan. Not only for the embarrassing lack of success but also for seeing all of our heroes fall so tragically. Blake and Luc should have easily been let go at the end of last season, and they sure as hell better be gone now. The worst part of it all is that it is all self-inflicted both in the series and the team's future.

They should have won the series, but didn't because they caused themselves harm for no reason. Despite the fact we were mostly dragged here and forced to watch this shit against our will by BLuc, while Blake's reputation came pre-tarnished, Robitaille has taken a dive which hurts me because he is my favorite player of all-time. I have one of the last jerseys he wore on the ice before he retired on my wall. Now, even Kopitar and Doughty are spiraling.

If I were Gavrikov and Kuzmenko, I'd run for the hills after that implosion. This was likely this squad's peak how it is without a rehaul. They aren't going to get rid of Kopitar and Doughty. Luckily, next year seems like Kopi's last from his own hints, but Doughty could be around for years on end. He is a hockey junky and I can see him trying to go out like Jagr but fizzle away like Joe Thornton or something. They likely have to trade Kempe next year, or double down on this roster and extend him to a huge contract, and likely have to pay $8- 9M+ per season to keep him.

The irony is we are probably so f***ed at what GM/Coach combination await us and will likely step on the gas pedal even harder and trade Greentree for some other vet to try to jam this team to wannabe round 2 contender status anyway...

Dear Dan and AEG,

Why was your two time Cup winning GM fired after three down years, but Blake and Luc can win nothing for 8 years with no recourse?

What message do you think that sends the fanbase?

Sincerely,

It sends the message that Beckerman doesn't have a clue on how to build a winning team.

A month ago Hoven and the like were talking as if the Gavrikov extension was a done deal, especially after hiring Brisson. I hope to god that the radio silence on that is an indication that either the player or management is having second thoughts. The absolute last thing this team needs is to sign up for an 8 year albatross just so you can get the last couple years of his prime en route to a 5th and 6th consecutive loss to EDM.

Lombardi was let go cause he wouldn’t fire Sutter. Wonder how many of you would have been OK with another year of Sutter.

I'd take a billion years of DL/SUTTER over this shit administration, are you kidding me?

We had ballz under Sutter

Wait, are you seriously thinking we're better off???

Ah shit, you're one of those aren't you? Yeah you are... you think the economy is good when it's tanking, don't you? You think shipping a black woman to Mars is progress don't you?? You think wearing a mask indoors is sound science don't you? ..ah fakkk you're one of those!!!

Whoa, turbo.

You are telling me if I looked back on the ‘Sutter Fired’ thread, you’ll be in there waving the bullshit flag?

What are you gonna tell me next, gas is at $1.98/gallon??

Sutter had jumped the shark…we all knew that.

Sure, we were allll frustrated with his trap system because we were losing at that point, so many fans were simply asking for entertaining hockey, and I was one of them.

But if you have a good roster and you're in the playoff, Sutter is your man. Not Stevens. Not Desjardins. Not McLellan. And certainly Not Hiller.

Have you seen the plans for the Honda Center refresh? I'm not saying I would.....but the drive up would be a lot more convenient to Anaheim lol
This? Looks pretty sweet overall (I've always thought their on-site parking situation was dreadful, though, and it remains to be seen if they can fix that).

Personally, I can't ever see myself becoming a Ducks' fan (well, I suppose I would if my daughter ends up becoming their anthem singer or something like that), but it might get to the point where I just take my kids to a couple of Reign games each season and watch a Kings' game once every few weeks or so. I certainly don't expect AEG to cater directly to people with my posture; but eventually, a mediocre team will likely see a good chunk of the die-hards convert to casual - it'll be interesting to see what they do if things get to that point...

there's an insane amount of work going on there at the honda center, can't really speak for the event parking but it looks like there's a ton of parking going up on that wedge by douglass. i think that whole 57 interchange is horseshit personally though and i'm also not sure if it's fixable

they were digging like crazy in the back lot area, shoring right up to the building, i've had a couple service calls there. really impressive construction

f*** the ducks though

Dont you think due the size of LA population and the number of corporations that rent suites for a season - that even with a fan rebellion, it might not get onto their radar? The thing that got Lieweke motivated for true rebuild was the Ducks getting a cup and AEG fear of losing the fanbase to them (since the Kings were cupless).. i dont see any dynamic like that now that the Kings have 2 cups.
I went to a few kings games this year, you know how many I paid for? Zero. They were paid for by a vendor we work with.

So you bring up an interesting point, even if there was a revolt. I’m sure Luc and Co can still offer the tickets to companies and corporations. I don’t see many families attending the games as much anymore but definitely not a problem to pack the house.

I don’t think anything will change, this organization is tone deaf and created an environment /bubble that allows them to live in a reality that they are doing the right things. I fully expect another awkward presser where Luc goes off on a tangent about Christmas and being family.

I think AEG is going to give these clowns another year and that’s it. The tear down won’t happen until this time next year.

this is kinda what i figure too

kopitar gets his farewell tour and the org gets all their social media opportunities and all the feel good shit they crave

then "aww oh no we have to make difficult decisions"

But was this not his final year? Or am i mistaken? Ownership will re-sign this guy for real? fakkk!!
