An open letter to Dan Beckerman and AEG

Open letters unfortunately aren't going to do a thing, even if every single member of this forum, every single person venting in the comments on the teams socials, every person pissed on Kings Talk were all to draft one up and bring it to to AEG, they aren't going to care.

You guys have to stop going to games, cancel your season tickets (it's not the Packers where you'll never be able to get them back in the future), stop buying merchandise, stop attending team functions and fundraisers (donate separately to the cause)

When the bean-counters at AEG start to see what the numbers look like when it's only, "The guy looking to have a fun-time a few nights a year" going to the games, that will get them to act. Unfortunately we don't have a Bill Foley or Vince Viola type owner with his pulse on the fan morale. There is a big difference between somebody like that and corporate ownership we have (ask a Dallas Mavericks fan)

Dont you think due the size of LA population and the number of corporations that rent suites for a season - that even with a fan rebellion, it might not get onto their radar? The thing that got Lieweke motivated for true rebuild was the Ducks getting a cup and AEG fear of losing the fanbase to them (since the Kings were cupless).. i dont see any dynamic like that now that the Kings have 2 cups.

Meh. Unpopular opinion, but I was super high on the team after the regular season, and super high after the first two games in the series.

I'm angry at the loss, but I don't think it's honest to say we were a Cup contender after game 2, and I don't think it's honest to say we're a crap organization after the series loss.

I'm looking forward to Byfield taking steps forward, and whether he and Fiala can have a 2025-2026 year that's more consistent (rather than back-loaded).
I'm interested to see whether Clarke, Turcotte, Helenius, and Laferriere can level up.
I'm interested to see whether we can re-sign Gavrikov, Kuzmenko, and maybe Jennot.
I'm interested to see whether we can have a good off-season add, or an under-the-radar win as we did last off-season.

Yes, I believe that if the bean counters at AEG see a significant drop in season-ticket numbers that they would notice. The NHL is the ultimate gate-driven league and season ticket holders are the bedrock of that gate-driven revenue. There is a reason teams in all sports offer incredible perks and bend-over backwards to appease season ticket holders.

You aren't going to get enough "dude looking to have a fun time 2-3 times a year by going to a Kings game" to buy tickets vs. Columbus or Utah on a Tuesday night. STH's obviously buy all those games.

As they say, there’s a sucker born every minute.

Yeah I don’t think anything changes with the organization. I never had an issue with the way Vegas ran their team. It’s a business.

This was my letter to him in the offseason. I will be doing a follow up, but I want to wait and see what happens first.

I am going to go back to the Beckerman quote for a moment.

"...With the core players we have in place, we should be contending each year for the Stanley Cup. Our failure to meet these goals has led us to this change.”

You see that is BS. The core players in place at the time were never going to contend again. If that is the bill of goods Robitaille and Blake sold to get their jobs, they are either fools or liars. While I never was able to speak with Dean directly on this point, I do believe he was getting ready to make some drastic changes to the roster and more than one of the sacred cows was going to be traded.

100%

No need to wait on "we need to do a better job in communicating what we're doing with our roster and why we're doing it." We heard from the GM one single time this entire season.
Contrast that with Dean's comparably frequent rounds with the media. There's a certain unearned arrogance that permeates throughout this entire organization, and the refusal of the front office to engage with the media more than once a season to face potentially critical questioning exemplifies it.

"Unearned" is absolutely the correct word. Even the rookie coach with rocks for brains is trying to act tough and stubborn when faced with the most milquetoast line of questioning imaginable.

Made that point a few years back. Bluc either actually believed that the core they inherited was good enough to compete, or they were snake oil salesmen deceiving Beckerman to get the GM role.

So yeah they were either liars telling the boss what he wanted to hear, or horribly bad at their jobs in evaluating the state of the team.

Given how those first few seasons played out I do really think they have always been in ober their heads.

We're not a contender, but we're also not rebuilding. That's the frustrating part.

This year LA did a better job of "building". A step in the right direction IMO.

Moving forward I think you can expect the same: they'll try to keep the roster competitive without selling off futures.

Not just Dean's frequent rounds with the media. Also, his willingness to talk philosophy and strategy with fans. BLuc doesn't do this because they can't answer the questions of educated fans honestly and with common sense.

Have you seen the plans for the Honda Center refresh? I'm not saying I would.....but the drive up would be a lot more convenient to Anaheim lol
