Steve's singing gets me every time. That parody of Trapped in the Closet is genius.

I was just sitting at home in the afternoon one day watching TBS and American Dad, and then I see this episode

Now I can hear the full song finally. One of the best episodes they've done.

Steve singing has so many great moments. Favorite is perhaps

This show is so underrated, unlike Family Guy, Simpsons etc it's just getting better with age. They recently had an episode, Gold Top Nuts that was as far out there as any major comedy episode I've seen in years.

I hear good things about recent AD but they had a spate after leaving FOX which was so bad (without Mike Barker) that I was phased out

The FOX episodes still are so good. I'll have to check out the TBS ones

American Dad! is coming home. According to sources, the comedy, created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, would air on Fox starting with its upcoming 20th season, marking the second MacFarlane animated series to return to the network following a break after Family Guy did it two decades ago.

The move of American Dad!, which has been airing on TBS since 2014, had been in the works for months, allowing the 20th Television Animation-made series to remain in production, I hear. Like on TBS, where American Dad! is coming off a string of two-year renewals, the pickup by Fox — now being finalized — is expected to be for multiple seasons. Reps for Fox and 20th TV Animation declined comment.

American Dad!‘s migration to Fox was fueled by the $1.5B deal extension Fox Entertainment and Hulu closed in November that keeps the broadcast network’s shows on the Disney streaming platform in-season. As Deadline reported at the time, the new pact means that Fox’s long-running animated series The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers — all produced by Hulu sibling 20th TV Animation — likely will remain on the network. The trio would now be joined by American Dad!

All four animated series’ past seasons already stream on Hulu (Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad!) and sibling Disney+ (The Simpsons). Additionally, fellow former Fox animated series Futurama, which, like American Dad!, moved to a cable network, Comedy Central, is now a Hulu original.

American Dad!’s TBS run will come to an end with the upcoming Season 19 finale on March 24. The network and Warner Bros. Discovery sibling Adult Swim will continue to carry the series’ past episodes through 2030 as the exclusive linear home of the American Dad! library which currently is also available on WBD’s TruTV.

I guess Fox got tired of trying to fill the American Dad void in their 2 hour Sunday slot with garbage show after garbage show.

The AD lineup post-American Dad has been awful for FOX. The UBI comedy is pretty bad as well as Krabopolis. The only watchable show is Bob's Burgers.

Good to see American Dad return to FOX although I am surprised. Also skeptical how much better they got on TBS. Once they left fox their writers Mike Barker and the other guy left. The show IMO hasn't been the same since

It certainly got more crass without the restrictions of network TV, wonder how it will go with them having to dial it back a bit

My wife is obsessed with this show so we've actually been watching it a LOT lately, usually at the end of the night when we're out of things to watch and we start scrolling through our excessive number of streaming services.

This show has aged excellently. We jump around different seasons and so many of the older episodes just hit so well even after so many years.

Roger is my absolute favorite character. Just by the nature of his character he can be pretty much anything and anyone they want him to be.

Steve is a close second lol.

I feel like it has improved greatly on TBS. Reaction to it coming back to Fox has been mixed, because on one hand it's better than cancellation, but on the other they're going to have to tone it down.

I'd agree -- the show is still capable of great highs (gold top nuts, shaggyverse, etc), but the batting average is lower in my estimation, even on a per-joke basis within an episode.

Honestly, content restrictions might do the show a favor. Most great episodes/moments from the past weren't due to outrageous content. And it seems more often than not the jokes that "push the boundaries" are the ones that fall super flat, because there's no substance behind them aside from "isn't this gross / hyperviolent / crass" just for the sake of being so.

Eh not really. Almost every American Dad show is rated TV-14, the same as Family Guy on Fox. I think there are only a handful of eps that reached TV-MA.
