Meh. Where was that during the playoffs? I'm guessing the defense and goalie here are crap. No other explanation as he was a ghost vs Philly and Pens.

If he was a ghost the entire Caps lineup aside from Holtby and Oshie never existed

lol @ all the down playing in this thread. The fact that he even got the original shot off was impressive enough, the finish was beautiful.

Ovechkin was a beast. Kuznetsov was a ghost and the most disappointing playoff performer. It's quite annoying as a Caps supporter to see him "tear it up" now when he gave nothing the whole playoffs.

But Switzerland is garbage. So that explains it. Like playoff Rick Nash vs an ECHL team should still have a moment like this.

I know you're a big Ovie fan so whatever I say won't change your opinion at all but I didn't see a beast performance out of him. Adequate at best. The abysmal even-strength play and offense is on the coaching and system.

Kuznetsov definitely did not have a good post-season but he was destined to disappoint given the above problems, his own game and the atrocious play of Williams and Burakovsky.

Kuznetsov was subject to NHL-caliber defending in the playoffs. These defenders were Swiss cheese. They weren't even stick-checking, let alone taking the man. They were completely out of position. Lots of guys can make pretty plays skating around pylons.

If he scores a goal like this on Doughty or Letang, then I'll watch.

This thread make me crazy. In that moment he NOT SHOW absolutely no any great reaction, no any aspect of skill, AVRYBODY can do that, this is GARBAGE goal

yeah what was that dmen thinking? keeping him to the outside and allowing him to score a goal that not many people are capable of let alone at that speed

NHL D don't even allow shots in the slot or in the crease, how can they allow one streaking to the outside??!

terrible goal

It's harder to defend on the bigger ice, especially vs players like Kuznetzov. look at Hall, he looks way better on the bigger ice, than on the NHL one.

He looks better at the WHC because the level of competition at this tournament is low...most of the teams are crap.

ergo he scores at a higher rate than the NHL. This is not rocket science.

And it's easier to defend on bigger ice if you are an elite level player. i.e. Canadian Olympic Team in Sochi. If you are not that level, then any type of ice surface, international or NHL, has its challenges.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Matrix yet. In the slow motion he looks faster than everything else in the slow-mo footage :).
