Wonder if he couldve figured things out here or maybe torts just figured him out

I always thought we gave up on him too soon. Never liked that we sent a first AND Tippett to Philly for Giroux. At least Giroux was actually useful in the playoffs, but we still traded a freshly 23 year old, cost-controlled guy who already showed he belonged in the NHL for 28 games of Giroux.
Again, on its own, it's not that bad; combined with all the other prospects that we lost, it's a pattern (and it's not like our prospect depth was great to begin with). Zito has done so many things well and the good outweighs the bad by a lot, but if we could stop giving away prospects/picks/young players, that'd be great.

He not only showed he belonged in the NHL, he was a top 4 player for of this team in the (brief) '21 playoffs against Tampa.

With Tippett's skill set, it's no surprise he's put it together and is finally score. He always showed glimpses of incredible talent with Florida, but he was just too green. I do hate losing him in the Giroux trade but it's just a part of hockey. He was only 21 when they traded him, still plenty of time to develop.

On that note, Forsling has become one of the best d-men in the league. His game had rounded itself out and he's the most complete defenseman this team has. He is as important to re-sign as Reinhart, if not slightly more important.

Zito needs to lock both these guys up.
