Dropping his shoulder and driving the net and risking a serious injury isn’t a smart play with how good this team is.

The dominant pens teams constantly coasted through the regular season

It's a dangerous game to play that, you honestly have to give Jeff Skinner a lot of credit because a lot of veteran players would have pouted and complained and things could have really gone south in that position.

We are fortunate he has a happy-go-lucky attitude and doesn't seem to be phased by that, that's a credit to him, but that's a rare attribute for a player in his situation.

Knob needs to learn from this as a coach. You can't just fall in love with the same 2-3 offensive line go tos like that. The offense becomes stale and you're under using the talent on your team. Good defensive coach, but man that was some brain dead offensive deployment. J. Skinner had been playing well for a while and was getting healthy scratched after games where he scored a goal and Connor Brown was being played on the top line over him, lol. Like c'mon.

Like I said maybe he felt he had to break him to build him back up into the best player he’s been yet. Possible skinner has some of the best hockey of his career down the stretch here.

I literally hate myself for having to say it, but my God, McDavid was f***ing brutal again tonight.

Solid game from Picard. He made some huge saves to bail out the team.

The Oilers PK has seemingly gone in the absolute shitter again which has to be a huge cause for concern.

Also, how many times is it now that the team has blown multiple goal leads in the third period?

I know we keep piling up points, but these have to be huge red flags with the playoffs looming.

There should be no feeling good about how this game ended.

I thought our best Dman was Klingberg tonight. Still has some great vision. The man can move the puck.

Had the one play where he held onto it too long and got out battled turning it over in our zone but otherwise he was good. Guy has good instincts.

A little bit of tough love is OK but that was really over the top, I think Knob was actively trying to bury him in the lineup so he'd waive his NMC.

Not trying Arvidsson again on McDavid's line was also stupid, he scored immediately last time there, tonight he setup Hyman for what should have been a goal and then eventually sniped one in himself later.

You gotta try some different things as a coach, you can't just let like a few games at the start of the season dictate the rest of the year.

You can tell he has natural talent/ability. How far he can push it here with the injuries he's taken is a question mark, but he seemed pretty good tonight. The Skinner goal even though he didn't get an assist, that was a very nice outlet pass that led to the zone entry for the goal.

Oilers defense look gassed in the 3rd period. Hawks sensed that and put on huge forecheck pressure.

Nonetheless, the Oilers were just a better team most of the game and grabbed the two points.

He definitely can make plays with the puck. He already looks like the best natural puck mover outside of Bouchard.

Here’s a scenario since I know you love these. Knobloch intentionally broke skinner and forced him to rebuild his defensive game. Now skinner has played his way back up and could finish the season strong and have a big playoffs.

Possible if he does find chemistry and we have a big playoff run that he does another cheap one year and absolutely explodes next year with 40 goals. He’s that kind of a guy.

He’s done the time. He just needs to remember.
