Well just a quick bio. Stinchcombe is one of my all-time heroes. He played his whole career in Britain, playing mostly in London (along with a stint in Nottingham), back when the south was the more powerful hockey area in Britain. He represented GB for over 10 years and was captain and coach in the 1948 Championships. Although he wasn't often penalised he did play a very rugged style. (Penalties had to be obvious to be called in that era (30's-40's), hockey in Britain always being more North American than European.) Still, Stinchcombe was tough rather than dirty who could score pretty well, the league was pretty low scoring then, (British teams, at both club and national level, playing a style that allowed the team with the puck into the zone and then tried to take the puck off them and launch odd-man rushes up ice). That's pretty much it for now, I apologise for the choppy nature of the post :)

BTW Archie Stinchcombe won the Triple Crown (European Championship, World Championship and Olympic Gold) in 1936 and the European Championship in 1937 and 1938.

:devils proudly rounds out their starting lineup with a solid all-around player in

Woodrow Clarence (Woody) Dumart

"I've known few men who exceeded Woody in his talent, both ways on the ice. Opponents always hated to play against him because he was strong and checked them so closely. But they never resented him, because he played the game so clean." - Milt Schmidt

:devils proudly select as their reserve goalie the winner of the first 3 Vezina Trophies
George Hainsworth

Set the amazing records of a 0.92 GAA and 22 shutouts in 44 games in 1928-29. He made his NHL debut at the age of 28 and missed only 2 games in the next 10 years.

The Calgary Flames are pleased to select Tommy Ivan as their coach.

After seeing his work in Chicago shipping Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield to Boston for Gilles Marotte, Pit Martin and Jack Norris, he will not be allowed anywhere near the GM position. :)

He probably won't like Kent Nilsson either. :)
Lol, yeah. I think he'd make or break Nilsson, obviously I'm hoping for the former :) Bowman would love Stinchcombe though.

i think it issafe to say that you were the only one after him:D

I think that most of my picks have been like that. I think they are great picks however. Look at Holecek's records and achievements.

World Championship Best Goalie '71, '73, '75, '76, '78
World Championship All Stars '71, '72, '73, '76, '78
CSSR Golden Hockey Stick '74.

My team is as follows. In terms of trades the players in Red are not up for trade but the players who are in black are available for a trade.

1st Line - Toe Blake was quite a tough player who could also score, Alexander Maltsev is the set up man, and Maurice Richard, well hell, he is Maurice Richard arguably the greatest goalscorer of all time.
Toe Blake - Alexander Maltsev - Maurice Richard

2nd Line - Pure goalscoring ability.
Vsevolod Bobrov - Sven "Tumba" Johansson - Vaclav Nedomansky

3rd Line - Has a tough player who can score and open up room in Bertuzzi and two other players who are smaller but have a great deal of god given skill.
Todd Bertuzzi - Anatoly Firsov - XXXXXXXXXX

4th Line - Checking line - Vladimir petrov has been discribed as one of the best defesive forwards in the Russian hockey system and Jackson and Mikhailov are two players who were never afraid to go into the corners.
Busher Jackson - Vladimir Petrov - Boris Mikhailov

Dany Heatley

Slava Fetisov - Valeri Vasiliev
Scott Stevens - Alexander Ragulin
