All WHL Games Now Streamed Free

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

Victory+ streaming service has signed a multi-year deal with the Western Hockey League. The deal will see the WHL regular season and playoff games streamed for free on Victory+ starting with the 2025 WHL Playoffs.

I think this is the way to go if the league wants to expand its fan base. The CEBL basketball league streams all their games for free and attendance has increased steadily every year.

Do you think the OHL will ever move to free streaming of the games? Or does the fact that local cable companies broadcast most of the OHL games make free streaming of the games less likely.

I don't think you'll ever see in-market games streamed for free...not sure what the ratings are in Canada but I have to imagine that the local cable systems would balk at that. You might be able to stream out-of-market games but there would have to be a financial model to support it.

The OHL has been streaming the game-of-the-week on YouTube so that tells me that they're starting to think about alternate streaming options but it still may be a ways off.

I wish they'd stream all the games on YouTube because then you'd be able to pause and rewind the live broadcast which is a big limitation of the CHL streaming app.
