MASSACHUSETTS DASHBOARD

This is a trying time for all of us no matter where you live.

Right now politics should be set aside. We all have government leaders at the Federal and State/Provincial levels telling us what we must do to get through this.

Adhere to the rules below regarding discussion that is political in nature or you will be warned and permanently removed from this series of threads.

Considering we are relaxing forum rules regarding political discussion, what steps "over the line" is completely at the discretion of the moderation team. Examples of what constitutes appropriate discourse are listed below. When in doubt, don't post it.

Do not wish harm or infection on members of the public, including the press, be it an individual or network/outlet/newspaper, etc.[/B]

It is becoming apparent that threadbans/infractions aren't enough for some people. The next step is a forum ban until hockey season starts.
***
We are going to follow similar rules for this thread that exist in the COVID-19 forum.

You may critique the response of government but don't make it political.

Posts attributing motives because it involves this or that political party/politician/ideology will not be tolerated.

Examples:

Allowed: "Trump doesn't know what he's doing, the response was too little too late"

Not Allowed: "The only reason the response was so slow was to keep the stock prices high so he can get reelected"

Allowed: "The media is over-reporting this and it's going to make things worse"

Not Allowed: "The liberal media is over-reporting this because they're trying to bring down Trump"

Miracle cures, home remedies, and medical advice should not be posted.

Please add a link to any news story

Somebody has it at the warehouse my dad works at. They knew their partner had it and still kept coming in to work without telling anybody. My dads almost 60 with diabetes and he lives with my mom, my grandmother and my at-risk special needs sister, to say I’m furious at this stupid motherf***er would be an understatement. All the other workers have been taking proper precautions at least.

they’re shutting the place down for the day to disinfect

This is exactly my biggest fear. It's also why I hate people in this country. Coming into work sick with a cold or flu is a dick move alone. Bringing this shit into work and needlessly exposing countless other people, putting their lives and their family members lives at risk? Yeah, I'd have a real big problem with that. Your partner is sick, you bite the bullet and self quarantine until you know for sure you don't have it. Even if you don't, you're still bringing the virus into work on your clothes and shoes, ffs. Common sense is gone.

So sorry to hear. I sincerely hope your father doesn't get it. How stupid of that person to risk the lives of others. It's the same with these Trump protesters, stupid, protesting saving their own lives and the life of others. What has happen to the America I knew and loved? Hate and Greed, I answered my question. My best wishes to your family and yourself.

That happened at my work last month. Somebody had it. They made the people who was in close contact with the person stay home for 14 days. Then they closed the building the next day to disinfect. Nobody else ended up getting sick.
As long as everyone was washing their hands and social distancing, which is what we have been doing here at my work since March, your dad should be ok.

And I mentioned before that my buddies were actually in a pitch league with a cop that had it. Neither of them ended up getting the virus. Only one of them got tested though. So I think hopefully your dad will be ok.

Pelosi says Trump gets an 'F' on coronavirus: 'Delay, denial, death'

The speaker's comments on MSNBC come as the House prepares to vote Thursday on a relief bill for small business.

Pelosi said in an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that "if you do not test, you cannot possibly know the size of the challenge,” which she said is why testing is the key to reopening the U.S. economy.

He was not properly prepared, not with the truth, with the facts, or the admission of what was happening in our country — delay, whatever, delay, denial, death,” she added. “And instead we'd like to see him insist on the truth and we must insist on the truth with him.”

The speaker said she wishes that Trump wouldn’t be an “agent of distraction" and suggested that his latest decision to suspend immigration into the U.S. is merely a “distraction from his failure on testing.”

Today, the Health Commissioner in NJ said: New Jersey would need to administer 20,000 to 30,000 coronavirus tests a day to appropriately get a handle on the outbreak and reopen the State.

Consider that number 20,000 to 30,000.

Only 7,000 to 9,000 tests are currently being administrated in the State. The turnaround time for the results has to drop significantly as well

By these standards, we aren't opening NJ anytime soon. I can wait. I value my life, more importantly, the lives of my extended family and that of others.

Stay safe, Save a life.....Yours

My dentist is handling things phenomenally.

I was the only patient and everything was covered in paper and plastic and she was in a mask and safety glasses.

Got really lucky they could just re-cement the crown bc I already had a root canal. Once they can re-open, they'll replace it.

I hear you about working when one "should" be staying at home

Problem is as it was explained to a professor in my HR program a few years ago that it isn`t that simple, it`s something that has never been addressed properly from employers

The overwhelming majority of jobs people have do not pay for sick days

The overwhelming majority of people have modest if any savings to absorb sick days

I can be accused of going into work when I shouldn`t. Thankfully I do it less but even a few months ago, my boss told me to go the f*** home when she saw me. I work (ed) in a small restaurant with a very small staff and if someone is sick, finding a replacement is almost impossible. Really shouldn`t be my problem to worry about but I did and I was wrong

If you talk to those who show up at work who clearly would be better served staying home, I`ll wager the overwhelming response from them would be the few reasons I pointed to above as why they didn`t stay home. The majority of people don`t want to work sick, they simply can`t afford to miss even one day, might be the difference of being able to afford to pay a power bill or put a meal on their tables

I know it`s frustrating but there are reasons for it, the HR term for it is Presenteeism

I worked for the rare restaurant owner in Ottawa years ago, they gave EVERYONE paid leave off each year for vacations, full time staff got 3 weeks, part time or casual 7 days

They also put in place 10 additional days for paid sick days as the majority of staff had families and they recognized and appreciated that most of us were living pay to pay and they didn`t want staff coming in sick but that is literally the ONLY owner`s I have worked for who had such a great package for their staff as described above, probably why I stayed there for almost 8 years

If my parents were alive I would be terrified for them. I am hoping my sister who just turned 70 and sometimes has breathing issues due to allergies will be OK. She is being smart. She made family and friends cool masks.

It is hard to believe how SELFISH and STUPID people can be. In the last 3 years I have been saddened by how many idiots there are living in MY county. trump has empowered them to come out from under their rocks .

Sweden resisted a lockdown, and its capital Stockholm is expected to reach ‘herd immunity’ in weeks

Sweden resisted a lockdown, and its capital Stockholm is expected to reach 'herd immunity' in weeks

The Coronavirus In Brazil: Jair Bolsonaro Is Telling People To Go To Work. In The Favelas They Don’t Have A Choice.

But then, if the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, is to be believed, maybe this doesn’t really matter. Just last week Bolsonaro urged supporters not to “run away from the virus like cowards” and to go back to work. Bolsonaro, a right-wing former army captain, has said the disease caused by the coronavirus, COVID-19, is nothing more than “a little cold.”

Health experts say Bolsonaro has set Brazil, with a population of almost 210 million, on a dangerous path. Home to some of the largest and most densely populated neighborhoods in Latin America, these experts warn the coronavirus is likely to spread there with staggering speed.

why did you have to quote my post to post another article that has nothing to do with my post? I thought we were just posting interesting information we are finding related to the virus?

Meanwhile Finland had 4x fewer cases and more than 10x fewer deaths

so sweet- a little over half the population in their capital (60% is necessary to achieve herd immunity) is MAYBE immune. We don’t know if people can get reinfected or not yet, there seems to be some data showing it’s possible.

I’d argue the cost they paid in lives is not worth what *might* happen
