NY hasn't exactly been i a drought, though.

Rangers in 94
Knicks in the finals in 94 and 99
Giants in 07 and 2011.
Yankees in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009
Mets in the 2000 WS

Thats half-decent in an era where each sport as 30 teams in it. There are a lot of cities out there that arent anywhere close to that. I mean, we can always be a complete failure, like Washington DC.

Or Cleveland.

It can always be worse. I'm sure one decade, four major sports teams in NY will each win a title in a decade like Boston.

I'm lucky, most of the teams I cheer for aren't in the New York area! I've escaped the New York mediocrity by cheering for such awesome teams as the Blue Jays, the Oakland Raiders, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Toronto Raptors and the Winnipeg Jets along with my Rangers! So yeah, lucky for me I don't just cheer for New York teams huh? :sarcasm:

Some good friends of my parents, the Gettleman Family just moved out of jersey. Dave Gettleman is now the new GM (as of the start of this NFL Season) of the Carolina Panthers, and they are kicking some major ass right now.

So if the Giants don't make the playoffs, I'm pushing for them. What a turnaround. And such a blessing to the family.

New York sports: "Hey, at least we're not Cleveland"

Most of the NY major professional teams have fallen into some really bad management. Wilpons, Dolan, Steinbrenners...see a trend here? Daddy's gift.

Yea, Im trying to get tickets for us for the Dec. 15th game. Hope they continue that on the schedules going forward.

I knew my wife since high school, so we went to the first SJU/'Cuse game our freshman year at the Garden in early 2001. Omar Cook's only year at SJU. Great game, 'Cuse won in double OT. It was all downhill from there in terms of a "rivalry." SJU's slide got a brief reprieve with Marcus Hatten, then 'Cuse won it all in 2003 -- had to go through all sorts of ribbing after that one. Then, as I was getting ready to graduate in 2004, the "Pittsburgh incident" as it was called around campus occurred and set the team back a number of years. Liked the Lavin hire though, hope they can excel in what is still a very competitive Big East.

I usually get tickets whenever 'Cuse plays St. John's at the Garden, but I'll be out of town this year. Should be a good game.

The rivalry has definitely been one-sided in recent years, although some games have been close. I liked Lavin when he coached UCLA and he's done a good job with SJU so far. D'Angelo Harrison is a solid player although he has his fair share of issues. I think St. John's will have some success in the "new" Big East.

Up until the playoffs, it really was a fantastic year to be a Red Bulls fan. The Mike Petke storyline was tremendous to follow. A rookie coach and a guy who's played a billion games for the franchise getting into it with his star player, an international legend, and coming out of it with Henry's respect and the franchise's first supporter's shield... Great season. Bitter end in the playoffs, but plenty of hope for next season.

The only sports I really follow are baseball and hockey. That being said I am a Mets and Islanders fan so this is not news to me.

I wish soccer was more popular sometimes.
