All-Purpose Prospect Thread v17.0

I stand by it 100%. I watch every minute of Gopher hockey. Rinzel's effort level changed around the time of the article. It's not a response to being offered a contract... It would be a response to him deciding at that time that he is likely to move on.

It has zero impact on how he'll do in his pro career. It's just a bummer for Gopher fans he didn't have the same impact in the second half of the season.

You don't think at 20 years old, knowing you're a few months away from starting the career which will define your life might be a lot to think about? That you might not go for a check here or a pinch there?

Rinzel and Korchinski are kind of like two sides of the same coin for me. They are zone exit and entry masters. Bedard is a zone entry master. Nazar. My concern with Rinzel and Korch is that relative to how elite their exits and entries are… not a ton happens when they are in zone. The hawks big squad similarly… not much happens with possession in a station to station type game. They don’t get inside players.

Levshunov gets inside. Nazar gets inside. Rinzel is way more physically imposing and will be. Korchinski is a water bug. They are both future top 4 D but someone is going to have to convert these entries in to goals.

So an article gets written about the Hawks intention to attempt to sign him after the year -- which would have been something Rinzel was likely aware of from last off-season -- and that article lead to Rinzel coasting the rest of the year to avoid injury? That's what you're saying right?

But he could have signed with CHI at any point in the year. If he was checked out of Minnesota, there was nothing stopping him from signing with CHI a month ago (or at any point in the season).

I agree that his mind could have wandered and looked ahead to playing in the NHL, but I don't think in games he was not playing hard because of that.

Basically no one does that in college hockey. They respect the school enough. Other than Okposo and a handful of others over the last 20 years.

So they respect the school enough to not leave, but not enough to play hard for them while they're there?

Discrepancy .. USCHO site shows Thompson 1g2a+3..But NCAA official site and CHN site shows only 1g 2a +3 for hom..They must have taken an assist away from him abd gavex1it to Buuim because the USCHO site posts fastest score updates but sonetines fails to show changes later by the official game score till hours later.

You’re quoting the same stat line bud.

Sorry.. I meant thec1g 2 a shown on the USCHO site is not the 1g 1a total for Thompson on the official NCAa or CHN sites..
So therevis iwas a discrepancy on his stats for the game..

1st Game of Playoffs/Playdowns drFt prospect performances:

Misa 0g 0a -4 3shog 8/25 on faceoffs

McQueen 1g 0a -1 2shog 2/9 on faceoffs

O'Brien 1g 1a +1 2shog 2/10 on faceoffs

Desnoyers 0g 1a +1 1shog 9/12 on faceoffs
________________

Hagens 1g 1a +2 2shog 8/15 on faceoffs

Observations:

None were high volume shooters.....

MISA had his worst game of thisseason ...exactly what you do not want to see when in the spotlight where you expect to elevate in the pkayoffs...see if he rebounds in this series or not.

3 were way underwater on draws...

The most impressive guy of the above might be Dessnoyers who dominated on draws (75%) ...and though he had only 2s it came at a crucial time = OT ...setting up the winning goal by Szumpf to secure a Moncton win...whatcwas so impressive was how he made thatcset'up...he took it away from a Quebec player trying to exit his zone...it is this defense to offense abikity and the big moment coning through abikity he hass hekoingbircscoring GWGs that guarantee this kid will be an MHLer who helps his team WIN.. He is so good in the little details of the game..The best defebsive forward of this crop ...and defense turning to offense is a pro ability you wantbina pkayer.

On thevother hand,Misa pkaying so poorly is a shocker.

.As to Hagens...weell #1Boston College barely beating Bentley (#20) was expected...Bit whike HORNS produced a goal and sisters,3 shot attempts (2 on goal) is hardly dominating against such a weak opponent...
.
Let us see how he does vs.tougher competition next game on Sunday vs.Denver.

So indeed all the draftees we sign from the NCAA now or soon this srsdon will burn the first year of their ELC since all areas years oldvorvolder ...The slide rule only applies to 18 and 19 year olds.

If Boisvert decided to turn pro Now,he would have his ELC slide ...but we do not expect hom to leave school .

Not sure why North Dakota would fire Berry just to promote his top assistant but I’d imagine this make it pretty likely that Boisvert stays

So Misiak elevated his production for the playoffs...but notice all 3 of his goaks were on the PP...and hisc5x5 was just Evenn...We know hexwill not be a Po giy forvtge Hawks ifvhe makes the Show..nor woukd tge Hawksxeven get many Pp chances in a game...It was not the usual season Misiak but just had a very good first 2 games of this series production wise...still IF he had 4 goals in 2GPk all in 5x5 then THAT woukd be a sign maybe we have something with hom..

Conversely...Misa had a goidcoffebsive game last night but again was underwater in thev+/_ at -3...sova surprisingly bad -7 so farvin2GP..

Shocking..since hecwas +45 for thecregularcsesdon.

We know the Hawks problems up front=lack of ES goals ...Cannot won in the NHLjust relying onspecial teams ...especially when the PP while already top ten in the NHL is so infrequent forctge Hawks...they do not generate lotsvofcPp situations...efficieny is good nut not frequency..

My point is whike I applaud Misiak for his firstc2 games production in the playoffs,Hawks need is ES orodiction..do not think heviscthat solution.
Secondly ...wondering if scoutsxwill downgrade Misa on poor defense beibg -7 after 2pkayoff games? Rather unacceptable unless thiscrealky is bad luck to be on shift when your goalie cNnitcstop a beach all.
Somebody look at the tap to see if Misa was off his check and at fault for his line being on for so many ES goals against or whether someother pkayers at fault or their goalie at fault for dreadful goal prevention when Misazwas on at even strength..

Still do not understand why Hawks have not yet signed DonenicJames after the reports in late zfebrruary he woukd sig as soon as hisxteanwas eliminated....If it only took a day for Rinzel and Moore to signature Minnesota went out,Minn-Duluth did notveve get to Regionals..

So whyvtge hold up with James?

You woukd think they want homat least I Rockford ..

Brings up a question...does the AHL still have a final pkayoff roster cut off date?

If so woukd not tge Hawks wNtvto load up Rockford for meaningful games and a pkYoff run?

I have a feeling James doesn't want to sign here. He projects as a bottom six forward and the Blackhawks have a ton of young ones he'll have to compete with. I remember reading somewhere that he has a relationship with Kris Draper and he might see Detroit as a better path for him. All he has to do is wait until August and he can sign wherever he wants.
