Lardis is such an intriguing prospect. He’s clear of the next highest goal scorer in the CHL by 5 goals. His goal scoring ability is honestly not unlike Debrincat.

It is no guarantee it will translate to the next level, as he doesn’t necessarily have the physical tools you’d expect. But that kind of goal scoring ability, even in the OHL, is eye brow raising to say the least.
He does play a very “junior” style game so there’s certainly major questions about translatability. That said, if he hits hes going to be a big time home run hitter. Legitimate 40 goal upside if he can figure out pro hockey

Scoring is not easy. Having that skill is ahead start. He is going to have to learn other parts of the game for sure but I am hoping he keeps progressing. Assuming he comes to Rockford next year?

Both Moore and Rinzel not scoring much over last 10GP..itcseems like other U. Minnesota players have been getting multi-poibt games and raising their play as go to guys for thex eam,but our Hawks 2 prospecysvontheir teami have faded from "star" performance.. this is discouraging..

Cowan is not a "clearly better prospect" then Lardis. Never was really. Two different type of players. Lardis more skilled with better instincts but Cowan with that dog on a bone style of play. Just depends on what's more appealing to you. Going into the 2023 draft Lardis was ahead in most scouting publications but Cowan ended up being chosen first so for sure the Maple Leafs preferred Cowan but a lot of other teams may have like Lardis better. Personally I like Lardis better as a fit for the Hawks at this point in time. We could certainly use the goals he appears to specialize in manufacturing.
Not to say Lardis would have done any better but Cowan sure was a disappointment in his role for Team Canada at the recent WJC. Not entirely his fault as he never should have been on the first line and counted upon for his offense in the first place. He would have been much more effective in an energy role.
Having said that, both Cowan and Lardis, have a heck of a lot of work to put in to get to the next level.
It'll be interesting to compare the damage they both do in the AHL next year when they're with new teams and teammates.

Cowan has out-produced Lardis over the last two years while having habits and playing a style of game that will better translate to the NHL. I'm not sure how that doesn't make him, clearly, a better NHL prospect.

Lardis is a better pure scorer in Junior but is he going to be tenacious/determined enough to get to the areas he'll need to get to in order to score at the pro/NHL level? That's going to be the question about his game at the next level.

he was a 1st rounder not a 3rd rounder like lardis he should profile higher. I think lardis biggest issue is his frame does not look like it will put on alot of weight. shot and skating are NHL level

Lev had a goal yesterday but if you watch it he ends up in front of the goal maybe 8 feet and takes a rebound and knocks it in. Glad he scored. why is D man 8' in front of the goal is the bigger question. he did not come in because of open Ice hoping for a shot he was terrible out of position and was the beneficiary of a rebound

Moore has disappeared like half his career. This is not surprising from him but it is from Rinzel.

I agree Cowan outproduced Lardis the last two years but how about the past year, or how about the last three years? Lardis wins production wise if you use the last 1 or 3 years.
I also agree that they have different playing styles, don't know about the habits though.
When do you believe Cowan passed Lardis as a prospect? Was he always better? Was it when he was chosen by Toronto in the draft? Or maybe when Cowan made the last two disappointing team Canada WJC contingents? I think everyone that follows the CHL would agree that Team Canada selections were off the board the last two years. Lardis was a high pick in the OHL draft whereas Cowan was selected considerably later. Lardis was still ranked above Cowan going into the NHL draft but Cowan was drafted earlier. Most thought it was a reach by the Maple Leafs at the time. Believe it of not, I didn't. I though Cowan is a pretty good prospect and that his early selection was well deserved. I just think this past season Lardis looks like the better player and has improved quite a bit from last year. Cowan is still good but doesn't look like he's made the gains in the past 12 months like Lardis has.
