560 points in 690 games fro a 3rd round pick. Staistically speaking that's like a better version of Patrick Sharp.
First round pick. High scoring era.

Agree that would be good, but hopefully he’s a goalscorer in the pros.

Any of our older posters (Really old if around) want to explain why Hawks seemed so quick to trade kids who showed alot of promise in NHL or were top picks back then?

Some examples

1) Doug Crossman

Crossman at age 22 puts up a season of 13 goals + 40 assists for 53 pts in regular season and then in playoffs had 3 goals + 7 assists in 13 games

After playoffs gets traded with 2nd round pick (Flyers drafted RW Scott Mellanby) for D Behn Wilson who was several years older and struggling to replicate his 61 pt season from 2 years before at time of trade and essentially played his way out of Philly with his struggles

2) Tony Tanti

Tanti despite being 12th overall pick and only 20 yrs old gets traded less than 2 years after draft (And just 1 game as a Hawk) to Nucks for Curt Fraser. Tanti goes on to become 3-time 40 goal scorer in Vancouver and 2x all-star. Fraser did nothing outstanding as Hawks and was just an ok depth player from all accounts I have ever heard about him

3) Eddie Olczyk

Traded at age 21 after 3 years with Hawks in the big deal with Leafs (Olczyk + Secord for Thomas, Vaive and McGill)

At time one would think Eddie would have been considered a blue chip young talent even with his up and down play. Both Secord and Vaive were showing signs of decline while McGill was just a big hitting, fighting SAH bottom pair defender and Thomas while also young NHLer at time wasn't a highly rated prospect (Wasn't even drafted)

What was it, a desire to change dynamics of team, Wirtz/Pulford impatience with youth, etc, etc

Not sure what's going on with Kantserov over the past few weeks but he has fallen off a cliff as far as scoring goes. I've watched most of the games, including this morning, and he is playing very well overall - defense and puck hunting - but he's not getting many offensive chances and when he does they're not going in. He doesn't appear to be playing injured. Not sure what to think about it, but it's concerning.

Often teenagers playing in professional leagues hit a wall at this time of year. It happened with Patrick Kane in both of his first 2 seasons. Look at his numbers in January and February of those years. Michkov has fallen off a bit and even Celebrini to an extent. I wouldn't be too concerned yet.

Good point.

Rinzel season seems to have cooled dramatically

Noticed that recently as well.

Seemed a few months ago you heard something about him just about every time he played, but lately it seems he's barely mentioned. I admittedly only follow him through what gets posted on this board, though.

I caught the Minnesota Michigan game that was broadcast on Saturday and although Rinzel didn't dent the scoresheet, he looked pretty damn good. Regarding Oliver Moore, I'm becoming less hopeful that he'll offer much scoring in the pros but I still think he can have a strong impact on the games he plays.

Rinzel still plays a shit ton of minutes and all situations. He's a stud for them. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back again, or if he plays next year in Rockford. I doubt he's NHL ready. He still needs to continue to fill out and continue to learn play selection.

I've seen lots of negative comments about the Gajan pick.

Why? He's a 20-year old playing his first season in the NCAA.
Give him time to develop, geez.

If the Hawks miss out on landing at #1 o r#2 and Schaefer or Misa who willl be both off the board , I think KD will getcsucked into a "consensis" rankingvtgat Hagens is the next ranked player and tajevhom.

However I woukd not do that.

.Another smallish crnter= does not fit Hawjs needs. Whether he is 5'19.5 orc5'11 hardly matters..He is just anotger smallishforward where we already have so many prospects and yute cebters undersized.

.As I have posted hevis playing with a loaded Boston College top ncaa team...and has played tge nahoritybifcthexseasin on theirvtop linearity Leonard and Perraukt until recently when BC decided to switch up the line.and lately hevis centering different wingers most shifts but is still on thebPp with Keonardcand Oerraukt ...in akk though he has been ina privileged situation yet has Not been as "go to" or carrying g thevteam on his back or as productive as Cekebrinni was in his freshman season i his draft year.

.More Goal Scoring was expected from Hagens but he has skewed to assists to a greater degree than goals thiscsrason..Nothing wrong with setting up wingers to finish ..but he is not the best center in this draft for that either.

..He is an "older" 2025 draft prospect with a November birthrate..

This is why you question further upside vs. Looking atxa younger center draft eligible.. For instance...Jake O'Brien isca June birthdate= 8 months younger..His gamevis not stagnant but progressing better and better. You can see an NHL potential s translation and starcpkayer with a higher ceiling...

.O'Brien offensively is already a more elitevpasser playmaker, and you can project hom getting even stronger than hevalreadybis (listedxatv6'2 170 but you can project how much more hecwill do on the biardsxandvonthe forechrck as he adds mass to his frame ..Hevhas a longer runway to getveven better and more dominating in tgebo-zobevthan he already is.
Sure..Hagebsvisxa better skater now..but Obrien is such an elitevpassr /creative playmaker whose scoring goals is starting to also come together that ifvhe can just get a bit better in his skating, which I think he will, I think the potential impact in the NHL will be better than Hagens will provide.

I just think Hagens may already have platteaued whike O'Brien hasvonlyvstarted scratching the surface what he will be.

So I am interested to see if tgectankibg guys cibecariubd to realize alk tge above and upgrade O'broen to a legit #3or#4 overall prospect forvtge draft.

Again ..gotta love tge size potential once he fills out..goita be impressed with tgebpjaymajing, hockey sense , vision...he phaysxeith pace but has to work on getting morecspeed and explosion into his skating..

The defensive side of hus game also needs to improve..but again he hisxat tgecyoubgercendvofvthe draft so I expect him to work on that aspect next season I Brantford.

But mostly,O'Brien isxompace for 99 points projection..If he keeps up pace of his his last 10GP he will necwell over 100 points. By tge end of the OHL regular season.

All very impressive for a guybonlybpkaying 2C for Brantford...He is not playing with Lardis on their top line at evens..but does play on the Brantford #1 PP. and used in all situations ..

Despite the offense he is still -8 forvtgexsesson..so clearly he needs to work on his defensive game..

He is not yet a finished product.. I think Hagens may be that and has plateaued already..butceith him you get a more developed defebsive game albeit so what limited when a smallish cebter attempts to play big NHL pros.

So ..if you want a more finished product...take Hagens but really some risks he may not translate to that high of a ceiling in the NHL..
I just do motcsee him.impactibgnlije Jack Hughes did.

So at #3 or#4 maybe bet on the potential of O'Brien to drive a line.. tge abikity to speed defenses with elite playmaking and passing..The potential of that for either playing 2C to drive a 2nd scoring line .and/Or the potential he could bring to feed Bedard on the PP .or if Bedard plays with him on a libe together.

So...you are projecting NHL impact and upside to whatxavpkayer coukd be once fully matured by age 22 orc23 and beyond..not what 17 year olds not turning 18 till June are at their level now...parts of their game nerd more development.

I just question how much more development will improve Hagens...I think he maybbe only what hevis now .

In a kid lije O'Brien I still see him reaching an even highervoevel and improving in sonexareasxhe needs to work on.

Now ...I also like Caleb Drsnoyers...In his case also needs to workon morecexplosion I his skatibg..but but you do not need to worry about his defebsive game which is excellent.. or how he is so goid on draws..You get very high hockey I.Q..terfific off puck game.,high oace, high end set-uo skills.. and an improving shot ...high accuracy..he is picking corners better this season.. I justblike his all round hame and if he adds more explosion in hisxskating could be even more dangerous offensively..

I jusyceoukd take either ofvtgesex6'2 Centers (Desnoyers or O'Brien over Hagens )..I think Hawks nerd a 2C more than just a wi ger ..so I woukd put Martonexat #5 and drop Hagens to#6 on a kist of rankings to fit Hawks needs.
