All Purpose News Thread Part Iii

Oh wow it seems like that's legit.

Why tf would they release him? Unless he's been wanting to do more and hasn't been featured as much as he'd like sans Cena match, OR the opposite and he wants a break from the travel.

Who knows but that is shocking.

Some thought the Cena match was a terrible idea however through the lens of WWE about to release him or let his contract expire then it was a nice send off for someone who was a serviceable member of the organization for years.

they're gonna replace the fun people with shit comics with shit politics
This, but a bit more eloquently. I was wondering how long it was going to take for the TKO flunkies to try and and UFC-ize WWE. Saving every dime they can, overly corporatizing the product all the while taking a hatchet to locker room morale. As has been happening since January.

The recent set of releases? Fine, i get it. Most of those names weren't doing much anyway, and for a couple of them, they're plenty young enough to pick themselves up and land on their feet elsewhere. In one case, making far more money for way, way less physical pain/work.

But this? Truth was literally just on TV like a week ago in a pretty high profile angle. He might be 53 but he can legitimately still go, is legitimately still over with the fans despite WWE not treating him as a serious contender/whatever for over a decade and probably was making you double what you were paying him in merch. As he gets older he continues to pay you returns as he transitions to some type of mentor/teacher.

Instead, you cut him for probably barely any savings, piss off your locker room to the point top guys are speaking out. It's okay, a goofy Truth backstage segment will be replaced by bert kreischer telling his shitty machine story for the 78th time that week.

This was the first step i was waiting for, now comes step 2 in the form of the first "big" release in someone they find expendable. Say like, Bayley. Suddenly her contributions in helping the young ones find their place and her in ring work are too expensive, so off you go. Likely followed by a Wrestlemania in Saudi announcement.

Bayley and Sami would be my guess

The least funny person on earth was the first person I thought of since they’ve been showing him on camera non stop. He’s a narcissistic drunk asshole. f*** him.

It's going to be funny if releasing R-Truth is the move that finally opens the floodgates of people seeing that WWE, especially public company WWE and now post-merger WWE/TKO is a business and puts business aka profits first above all else. Maybe when they start viewing the company through a negative lens they will find more aspects of the product to critique.

As of Friday the cheapest ticket available (standard admission) per WrestleTix was $259.35. $260 for upper level end seats to probably see five matches. Ultimately they will keep doing it until enough fans refuse to go. You can't blame them for continually raising prices if people continue to pay them. I suppose maybe they will continue to rise in the same manner UFC tickets have risen. As a casual UFC fan I find it ridiculous how many people pay what the UFC charges for tickets. At least UFC events have 11-13ish fights per event and might last five to six hours but it's still a lot per fight.

Maybe it's bots amplifying the message but "WWE and TKO" is trending and most of the comments are negative. We'll see if those comments lead to action from fans and eventually a response from WWE to switch things up to bring those fans back.

Some of what you stated has been slowly started to bubble up to the surface. The ticket price thing in particular i see a lot of negative discourse about (can't say i blame people, dynamic pricing is a scam)

There's a couple things that didn't sit well with me. The cutting of people and then Triple H bragging about "LOOK AT OUR GATES/REVENUE!" Like fine, cut them if they're collecting dust but doing that right after makes you look tone deaf at best and incredibly heartless at worst.

The hard shift in attitude from the company turned me off too. Very much noticeable post 2024 because well...you know exactly why. Bringing in these crappy, unfunny comedians that appeal to a certain demographic. Paul Heyman essentially mocking someone Latino heritage potentially being deported live on Pat McAfee's show. It's so obvious what they're trying to do. Letting Logan Paul show up once every 6 months to be inserted into high level programs so he can f*** off again. Literally how is this any different from what Vince did with Brock? That's not even getting into the corpo vomit a lot of the show has become. Take me back to the days where Raw would have like 2 sponsor breaks with JR busting a nut over Skittles, please.

I'm far from what people would call a bleeding heart but that shit with Heyman was honestly a level of scummy i don't think they even touched during the attitude era. Like yeah, ha ha this guy that was probably born in the US is being targeted because a group of people would rather he not exist. Real classy, and shameful given Heyman's background/heritage.

I haven't watched WWE since WM40 but i do keep following along on social media. Skipped 41 which is the first Mania i haven't watched in well over a decade. I'm at the point where i have accepted this what WWE is now and that it's time to just forget about it.

Edit: And before you ask "but what about AEW?" Tried, their booking/stories outside of a select few (the Timeless Toni Storm saga, the ongoing redemption of Adam Page as the soul/savior of the company, anytime Jay Briscoe is allowed to speak) i don't really care and haven't post first CM Punk meltdown.

Kinda dumb for a company that makes $5B/year off one TV contract to shit all over locker room morale and cut a guy that can't make much more than $1M.

Tuning out time for me gonna just tune in for the big ple's raw and smackdown been trash for awhile and these cuts lean sour taste in mouth
