All Purpose News Thread Part Iii

Dom went on a podcast recently and said that when RAW comes to Phoenix he plans on visiting Eddie's grave with the IC belt to let him know "We did it."

... That's both an awesome story and also something I almost hate hearing because he's so good at being tongue in cheek while keeping kayfabe, and I feel like letting stuff like this out there makes it hard for fans to play along and keep booing.

Why is his grave in Phoenix?

Watching this match is horrific. How are there no mats or guard rails of any kind around the ring?

That's a cool venue but the crowd looks exactly like what you'd expect at something this gobsmackingly Pejorative Slured. I couldn't watch all of the match but I can't believe they intended Sabu to take those bumps. And if that's the case, that's just pure negligence.

I'm pretty sure the first time I saw Sabu wrestle was a match against Sweet Daddy Siki at the future Steve Yzerman Arena many years before ECW even existed.

Thats how GCW and most deathmatch shows are. I wanted to go to one of the GCW deathmatch tournaments and get close seats but then decided id rather not be sprayed with shards of glass. Also the card was meh.

When I went to MLW and NXT they had guard rails and I think mats

The arenas are 20 minutes away however...

The 2025 AEW Double or Nothing location was announced on February 19, 2025. The event, which is scheduled for May 25, 2025, will be held at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The WWE announcement for Monday Night Raw on June 9th in Phoenix was made on March 28, 2025. A Facebook post and an Instagram post both confirm this date and time. The event will be held at the PHX Arena

The WWE event was announced six weeks later and happens 15 days later. Monday WWE announced Gunther versus the winner of Jey vs Logan. Trying to get people to decide to spend money on their tickets instead of AEW tickets. It's a common trend along with announcing NXT events and PLEs around the same time as AEW PPVs so people may decide how much time they want to spend watching wrestling and choose between shows. I wouldn't use the word scared but WWE pays close attention to their competition and would love to snuff them out. I suppose that's what any large business will do to new competition. It's the way the world works even if it's cowardly bully tactics.
